Re: Returning Melbourne after 7yrs

Are you in Wiltshire currently? What has prompted the move back to Aus? We lived in Chippenham and Trowbridge before we moved here.

Re: Returning Melbourne after 7yrs

Hi, I would think somewhere along the Hurstbridge rail line would suit you as you are familiar with the area. You may need to look at school zones. I believe Eltham High School, St Helena College and...

Re: Looking to make friends in Melbourne

Took a while! I'm a quiet person but have made some friends through work and interests. Hope you're settled in Melbourne now, it's a great place to live!

Re: Car hire excess...what's the score?

We have car hire excess covered by travel insurance when needed. Last year in Sydney I managed to get pranged by a taxi in a car park. I had to pay the excess up front to the car hire people (I think...

Re: Shipito and fraud...

Hi,
I have never heard of shipito so can't help you there. I don't think it's of any value to contact the company directly, let the bank do that. I've had fraudulent purchases on my credit card in...

Re: Landed in melb 4 days unsure if i should , help!

I luckily work part time locally so don't have to commute. Hubby commutes to work but he cycles in as he much prefers it to the trains - which are packed also!
Takes him approx. 45mins each way I...

Re: Landed in melb 4 days unsure if i should , help!

We've lived in Melbourne for over 8 years now and I love it! Always something to do/see.
I am married with a family and live in 'suburbia' (only about 12k from the CBD) and it's so easy to go into...

Re: Enrolling in a school when in the UK/General school

It depends on when your daughters birthday falls, each state has different age rules. So your daughter will start year 2 this year in Sept? If she then restarts year 2 here in January she won't have...

Re: Enrolling in a school when in the UK/General school

I would wait until you've arrived and know where you'll be living. Have a look around first (although you won't actually be able to look around the schools as it'll be holidays)
We arrived in Aus on...

Re: what are the main benefits for children in Oz over Uk? apart from obvious weather

Ah, I see. Makes more sense now, I hope when you make the move things go more smoothly for your daughter. It's not sixth form here though, high school continues until age 18. And the exchange rate is...

Re: what are the main benefits for children in Oz over Uk? apart from obvious weather

Just curious why you would wait 4 years before moving? Your kids are at a great age now to move and the eldest may struggle to settle in school here if just moving for the last 2 years of schooling....

Re: health visitor!?

I moved over to Melbourne 8 years ago and looked into this. I am RN trained and was a qualified health visitor in the UK. I was very disappointed to find that in Victoria, to register as a child and...
