Shipito and fraud...
Hi all
I have just found 2 charges on my visa debit card from Shipito in UD$ which I never authorised. In fact I have never ever used them for any purchase.
Obviously, I am querying it with the bank, but has anyone used Shipito before? If so, what sort of verification processes do they have when you buy with a card? Can you get something shipped to a third party address even if the billing address matches the card address (mine one would assume)? Do they ask for the CCV number from the back of the card? The card used for the 2 transactions is in my possession so it is not a matter of a stolen card, only the number and presumably some of my details. Also, from what I gather, you need to create an account with Shipito to use their services. Do they verify any of the account holders details?
I know online CC fraud is rampant and it was only a matter of time for me, but I am curious as to how the fraudsters get around things like CCV...
Also, shoud I bother contacting Shipito or should I let the bank's fraud department do it?
Any insight appreciated.

Hi,
I have never heard of shipito so can't help you there. I don't think it's of any value to contact the company directly, let the bank do that. I've had fraudulent purchases on my credit card in the past and the bank froze the amount (ie I wasn't charged nor charged any interest) then after investigating they then refunded it. I had to have the card stopped and a new card issued. The bank will contact the store and ask for full details of the transaction and will follow it up on your behalf. Hope it all gets sorted quickly for you, very annoying.

Let the bank handle it, it looks like someone cloned your card somewhere. They should have the address it was sent to and the bank will deal with it. Just make sure you get refunded.

Thanks both! I am expecting the bank to refund as they have done so in the past so that's not the issue really. Just my curiosity wanting to be satisfied as to what sort of measures are in place on the website itself since it is meant to be quite a reputable site.
