Re: Decided not to go

What makes you think these posts were only referring to Liftman? I think we were talking about common misconceptions by SOME immigrants. Anyway, how a threat started does not pre-determine it's...

Re: Decided not to go

I agree... it seems as though too many immigrants feel they are owed something. I did spend over $30,000 to do a Masters degree - to increase my marketability in both the UK and Canada, and so far...

Re: Decided not to go

Yes, but Jonny was speaking as a soon-to-be-immigrant and as someone who has not yet left for Canada. Perhaps these sorts of issues are best thought about BEFORE one arrives in Canada!

Re: where in Vancouver worth visiting?

The Museum of Anthropology at UBC is worth a visit. Wandering along West 4th avenue is also quite fun - lots of little shops and good restaurants.

Submitting additional documents to CHC London

Has anyone applying for PR in the spousal category had to send additional requested documents to CHC London? We are in that situation and have just sent off the requested documents. We were told it...

Re: need help

I didn't think it was sarcastic!

The word "visa" is used with many different meanings. If you don't need a visa to enter Canada you still need a visitors "visa" to stay in Canada (this is when...

Re: need help

You cannot work until you have your permanent residency...so, I did answer your question! You need to get married first, then submit the application, then wait 6 months to over a year. So ,...

Re: need help

You can stay in Canada as a visitor for 6 months (to stay longer you need to apply for extension of this visitors visa). To be sponsored as a spouse it can take anywhere from 6 months to over a year...

Re: need help

Well... if you are not married to him, living as common law or conjugal partners, then him living in Canada will not help you at all. You would need to apply as a skilled worker, which if I...

Re: Decided not to go

Yes, I agree, but there are plenty of foreigners (including those in the medical profession) trying desperately to work in the UK only to find their qualifications unrecognised...

Re: Decided not to go

You are not the only person on this forum with a family to consider! And from what I have read, most people who have emigrated (and their families) have done quite well. I am leaving the UK and...

Re: Decided not to go

Let me just clarify that foreigners coming to the UK are NOT given "every opportunity" as you say they are. And coming to the UK can and does cost a fortune for some. Why demonise Canada when other...
