There are jobs, although less of them and a lot more people applying. Whether organisations are off-shoring/outsourcing/recruiting/hiring really depends on the specific IT profession in question....

I'd just do it here... it will work out cheaper and you'll probably need to use some UK->Oz converters for some things anyway. It will give you something to do while watching the not very good...
