If you choose the Algarve I suggest you get a 3/4 month winter let from Jan to April or possibly May. There are a lot of holiday apartments/ villas that the owners are happy to rent out over winter...

What's up with the weather?

We live in Lagos. We are now in June and the maximum temperature up to the 9th that we can expect (according to the IPMA) is only 23 degrees. If feels like the weather is 1 to 2 months late.

We brought out most of our gadgets and hubby changed the plugs to 2 pin. Anything we decided we didn't need/want to use over here has gone to a charity shop for sale.

I need to send a 2.5kg parcel ( set of bed linen - husband hated the colour) to the UK as economically as possible. But also fairly securely as it's worth £120.

This is wrong. UK rental income is taxed in UK. We have several properties and we declare income on UK tax form.
We are Portuguese resident and in NHR but still have to pay tax on UK rental income...
