Re: What's up with the weather?
We live in Lagos. We are now in June and the maximum temperature up to the 9th that we can expect (according to the IPMA) is only 23 degrees. If feels like the weather is 1 to 2 months late.
I'm interested to know the meteorological conditions that are producing this unseasonably cool weather. Can anybody explain please?

Love some of the replies Saffy R.... If you ask..Brian Cox ,he of the famous Jodrell Bank telescope ,and star gazy progs... We had more than our usual number of sunspot activity last year.. Sun spot flares cause disturbance in the solar winds, which then push the gulf /jet stream up wards taking the warm air with it....OR something like that ha...
OR its Global warming...but with winter coat on...ha...It's mean't that my roses are wonderful this year...so i'm not complaining

Yorkshire is likely to sue you for that!!! Only they can lay claim to GOC or so it seems... In Peter Kays prospective FIL's famous words.... 'Eees from Leeds' was mean't to denote that in the 17th century....(maybe where this fable started, with desperate rivalry over the Warburton's bread heiress. I can't imagine sensible men from Lancashire or Yorkshire fighting over a stupid war of the roses...This makes more sense )

Can anybody, in simple layman's terms, explain why the Jetstream has split?
Is it the end of the world!!

Meteorology is among the most complex of sciences. Even today, with thousands of monitoring stations and dozens of satellites feeding information to the largest fastest computers on earth, weather prediction is sketchy. Mathematicians, physicists, and meteorologists work to constantly improve the mathematical climate model.
You're asking for a simple reason why a given weather phenomena is occurring; most likely even the boffins can't can say why.
I doubt it's the end of the world, but we did choose a property 80M above sea level, just in case.
