Default Washer dryers

Hi, our Bosch washer dryer was included when we purchased our property, but has now started smoking!
Apart from Worten, are there any good retailers of Bosch washer dryers in West Algarve?

So, do you really need a washer dryer? We find we can dry outside 99% of the time all year round. The dryer bit consumes an enormous amount of electricity and if you have a washer with a high spin speed you can dry outside in a few hours. If you go to Kuantokusta.pt you’ll find good prices delivered to your doorstep. Alternatively go armed with KK prices to a local shop and see what they can do.

We found appliances significantly more expensive than back in the UK so ordered most of our's through ao.com and had them delivered through Direct Transport in Porches. You can either use a plug in travel adapter or change the plug.

Fifteen years' ago we relocated to the Algarve with, among other things, our Zanussi clothes drier. We never used it because clothes dry here on the washing line before the next load is ready to hang out. We sold it at a car boot sale. Just buy a new Bosch washing machine.

I would guess that the smoking might be caused by accumulated fibres and/or gunk being heated by the dryer element. Can you give it a good clean out and then continue to use it as a washer only? Combined machines are more expensive, have smaller capacity and are much more unreliable but the cost of a replacement pays for a thorough service for the one you've got, if it used to be OK and is a decent brand.

We found it more cost effective to buy from Currys in the UK and have them deliver it to Direct Transport's depot in the UK. Direct Transport then delivered to our property west of Lagos. Even adding the cost of transport it was still much cheaper.

No guarantee on UK purchased machines unlike those bought from a Portuguese retailer.
We have had excellent service when anything has gone wrong, no quibble just quickly collected and repaired.

Just a thought. If you have relatives close to the Peterborough area in the UK (there are two others) you can use the Hotpoint outlet store (Indesit, Whirpool and Kitchen Aid) for very cheap cosmetic damaged goods.
Saved us a fortune (and also good for those very very expensive Kitchen Aid mixers)

The problem with buying white goods in UK and getting them shipped out is what happens if they go wrong? Will the warranty cover them abroad? If you change the plug does it invalidate it? Will the manufacturer honour the warranty and send out an engineer to a different country from which it was purchased.

Check the terms of the warranty, or perhaps ask the manufacturer first.

We've only had one issue, a Beko fridge freezer making a funny noise from the first time it was plugged in. They sent a Portuguese engineer the next day who found a plastic part next to the fan had come loose during transit. Took him 10 minutes to sort and he made no comment about me having changed the plug.

I have to disagree, we purchased a Bosch Fridge Freezer in the UK and the warranty is valid in Portugal, their service engineer fixed it without quibble. Below is the copy of their terms and conditions. I don't know if it applies to other manufacturers and what will happen if Brexit is triggered.
**************
These warranty conditions apply to appliances purchased in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. If appliances shipped to other countries feature the appropriate technical conditions (e.g. voltage, frequency, gas types, etc.) for the climatic and environmental conditions in the country concerned, the terms of the warranty will apply, provided a local customer service network exists. Appliances purchased outside the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland are subject to the warranty conditions published by the appropriate local representative office of that country. These can be obtained via the specialist dealer from whom you bought the appliance, or directly from our local representative office.

Thank you to all.
The washer dryer has died....and quoted €660 to fix 🙈.So decided to buy a new washing machine instead. Got a great deal / price at Worten which is actually cheaper than Curry’s at this time. 🎅🎄happy Christmas
