Of course just remember that to have the IEC permit issued for full term you still need to meet the 2 year insurance and funds requirement on landing even if intending to do a quick initial...

Be aware that visitors on a visit visa can only visit for max 9 months in any 18 month period . Not sure personally how immigration need to be convinced someone would be a genuine tourist for 9...

good point re via the US as dont think extra bags can be purchased on an economy code share going east from UK booking with Air Nz has to be Air NZ all the way. Plus unlike Emirates as an example...

If you did not already know be aware that you only get 23kg luggage allowance each with AirNZ unless travelling on a premium ticket whereas travelling east from Europe you generally get 30 kgs each....
