Moving from Southland to Canterbury - so not out of the country, but still not easy to pop down the road to check on things or deal with any issues as they occur.

I would give it a try in another area... and the sooner the better. We've moved town once in the five years since being in NZ, and it made a huge difference to our enjoyment of life here....

Thanks for those suggestions, will check them out. Visited Te Papa on our way down South when we first arrived in NZ, but it was a very quick visit and would definitely like to explore...
