Re: A place in the sun

I made it my mission to track down the flower pots tapas cafe. By a process of elimination I think it is La Paraita d'Pintxos, as it happens a favourite of mine as well. No sign of flower pots on...

Re: VPN and DNS

As an occasional visitor to Ayamonte and with a Priinet connection, this is my solution to getting Video services through a VPN. I've subscribed to PurePVN.

I've connected a laptop to the TV with...

Re: Air Con

This is a big thanks from me to all the contributers to this thread and also the Ayamonte club posters that I have been following for years now. I'm pretty much a lurker.

I also needed to get a...

Re: I hate to admit it but I need CBBC!

Very encouraging. Slingbox is my first choice as I hunt for a solution for TV in Ayamonte this summer. Pleased to hear it all works.

Suggest Telephone Provider

Hi,
With all the current upheaval regarding Satellite TV, I am considering re-installing a phone line into the apartment which was removed a few years ago for cost reasons.
I would be looking for...

Re: Goodbye Sky TV

Warning for folk in the Ayamonte area and beyond.

It looks likely that BBC channels will move to the new Satellite Astra 2E and the new spot beam tomorrow.

The move ".... will take place in...

Re: Goodbye Sky TV

From someone who is loving watching the ding-dong on this Ayamonte Club thread being played out but who also has some connection to the Ayamonte area, I have formed opinions about what I intend to do...

Re: Best SIM card

In the UK. I'm not sure if you can get it in the Carphonewarehouse equivalent in Spain. I would doubt it. I think there is a Phonewarehouse next to Mercadona so you could ask there.

Re: Best SIM card

I can only confirm that Isla Canela and Ayamonte works well. The Toggle Mobile option from Carphonewarehouse uses the Vodafone Network.

Re: Best SIM card

This is a followup to the togglemobile suggestion from Olivia.

I purchased a SIM (£10 from Carphonewarehouse with £10 credit so effectively free) and roadtested it in Ayamonte last week. I am...

Re: Tool Charges on the A22 to Faro

Yes, that's possible. No toll to pay. (assuming you are coming from the Spanish end of course) :D

Re: Best SIM card

I also have a Carrefour Internet dongle which gives 100MB per day for 1€ +IVA.

I have it inserted into a mifi (mobile sim card wifi router device) and had it connected to 2 phones, an Ipad and a...

Re: Best SIM card

That's an interesting find... Seems to be run by Lycamobile and also sold by Carphonewarehouse. What is attractive that it appears to provide a Spanish number whilst in Spain. Definitely one to...

Re: Best SIM card

From Spain to the UK, it is 0,15€/min to Mobile and 0,05€/min to Landline but there is a 0,30€ connection Charge

However, for some time now, Lebara have been running a 100% free topup deal if you...

Re: Best SIM card

Researching this whole subject deeply, I am totally convinced there is no one best SIM deal for all uses. I never said I get a good deal on Internet with my Lebara. In my opinion, it is only good...

Re: Best SIM card

Blimey, they want 39 euros just for the SIM card before any charges. Doesn't look a cheap option. Probably only useful for people that really spend a lot of time travelling to many countries.

Re: Best SIM card

I believe the SIM that I use is NOT the best for you but I'll mention anyway that I use Lebara for cheaper calls back to the UK. I think it's not so cheap for calls within Spain compared to other...

I know this is off topic but it has already been mentioned on this thread. It appears that T-bag have reformed for a few gigs right now. My suspicion was raised as a poster has gone up in La Cabra II...

Re: Best Spanish Bank Current Account ?

We also use La Caixa at the branch you mention past the zoo on the road to Isla Canela. In there, Maria speaks excellent English and has been very helpful on a range of matters.

Although we're...

Re: Furniture

Also, be very careful. Even a 2.5m dish will probably not be sufficient in the Ayamonte area based on the experience of Channel 5 and Astra2F. The very best advice right now is to wait and see what...

Re: Sonrisa !

Goodness that's a pretty damning report. I must admit, I've never eaten there except for a plate of patatas fritas when watching the old band T-bag. Naughty I know. Thanks for the warning.

There...

Re: Furniture

That one is called Muebles Mateos. They used to be located in the town centre many years ago. Great service then, and spoke good English but I've not used them recently. Their website is here...
