As a Structural Engineer in Chch you would be on considerably more than you are in UK at present, there is huge demand and the consultancies are picking and choosing what jobs they design as not...

With your background you will have your choice of jobs in Chch more than likely at a higher level than back home. You will prob start on between 65k-70k. Register with Hays as they are really good...

In my opinion the best areas to be reasonably handy to the city are (in no particular order):- Spreydon, Somerfield, Riccarton, Hillmorton, Merivale..... Papanui is decent as well but a bit further...

Agree with this, also depending on your music taste there is Dux Live and the Dark Room. Oh and the Wunderbar in Lyttelton.

A lot of demolition to be done before the major building will start, in the Red Zone anyway. A lot of smaller make safe jobs and retaining walls etc underway in the likes of Lyttelton but for large...
