Re: Things you Love about NZ

Spoken like a true Kiwi. There has been time enough, so I will let Winston be my conveyor:

Lady Nancy Astor: "Winston, if you were my husband, I'd poison your tea."
Churchill: "Nancy, if I were...

Re: Don't Dump you Animals to Emmigrate

I can only assume a 'furkid' is a fur kid i.e. child substitute. It is a shame that some people have never had that closeness to animals. They might learn something.

Re: Things you Love about NZ

Sorry to be picky, but no way would I travel with my precious children in a Camper van rescued from hedge or go on the water with a boat deemed fit for the crusher. Then again you did say 'Throwing...

Re: Riots.

This may ramble on a bit.

Talking about 'Brassed Off' took me back, not the 80's, but the 60's. 'Brassed off' was partly filmed around the places of Diggle and Delph, on the edge of the...

Re: Riots.

80's revisited - and I am not talking shoulder pads.

For me, the best film that summed up those feelings was 'Brassed Off'. Saw it on it's opening night - never known an audience to stand up and...

Re: Renting without viewing

Risky - you will be locked in for at least 6 months.

I booked a cheap motel for a couple of weeks - wasn't much more than renting but gave me breathing space and time to find somewhere.

Re: Finance help pls, Leaving NZ Sadly

Depends who you are with:

I had a car with MTF - they gave me a settlement figure, stuck the car on trade me - Guy who bought it paid me then I Paid off the loan. It is tricky though - MTF would...

Re: Car - which is best

Make sure it has a cam chain - belts are really expensive to replace. I know Nissan have cam chains.

Re: Riots.

That's really strange - there was a point where the country could have descended into total anarchy, the police were being outnumbered and overrun, British people were being put in real danger -...

Re: Riots.

Genesis:

We have here a generation of young people who are completely alienated from society. Why? Because successive governments have ruined the education system in the UK to a point where it...

Re: Riots.

Liberal? Hardly - just to my way of thinking, the man shooting the unarmed teenagers is the brainless coward.

Re: Riots.

War Zone - An area in which military combat takes place.

It may be 'like' a war zone to some, but it is not. When the Grenades, Machine Guns, mortars are deployed, on both sides, then it will be a...

Re: Riots.

It is pointless to get into a debate about British politics - Labour increases public spending, Tories feather the nests of the rich. Whichever way you think is correct will determine your political...

Re: Is it really the differences?

I wish we lived in simpler times. It is so tempting to stick some cotton wool in your ears and 2 pencils up your nose - but like they said - who would notice a mad man around here. :)

Re: Riots.

It is not like the old days for one very simple reason - skilled people used to be out of work, whereas many of those youths on the street are simply unemployable. Huge difference.

In the past,...

Re: Riots.

The worrying thing about all of this is that there is a sense of co-ordination in the rioting. Social networking sites, text messaging - the rioters are dodging the police and striking where they are...

Re: Riots.

Why has it got to be either shoot them or nothing? Arrest them, lock them up, send them on boot camp (no matter what age they are), get tough, get them to learn respect.

Back at you. How would...
