Re: Pre-Christmas Meet Up - Hamilton/Burlington

Yay extra long shift. Yay retail work at Christmas.

Have fun though and...

Re: Trying to leave retail...

I'd never even thought of going the student route, but you're right the 'student opportunities' are more numerous than any other positions, there seem to be hardly any positions open at Mohawk.

Re: Trying to leave retail...

Thanks for the replies.

That's the one bonus to working in retail...I meet hundreds of people, and I do use it as a chance to network. So hopefully one day I'll talk to the right person! I already...

Re: Pre-Christmas Meet Up - Hamilton/Burlington

I've only ever been to one meet-up, but am definitely keen to come to another. I'm in provided the OH can drive...

Trying to leave retail...

Have been here over a year and all has been going pretty reasonably considering (aside from a few apartment hiccups and my general dislike of Canadian bureaucracy), I just wanted to pick your...

Re: Forgive me BE, for I have sinned.

I'm actually starting to enjoy hockey and CFL a teensy bit. Only Sometimes. And usually enjoyment is directly proportional to how much rubbish beer I've consumed pre-game.

It also frightens me...

Re: Fears

Millie F & Zoe - thanks for the advice, I just keep putting it off but I know I need to deal with it. It's something I've wanted to be able to do for a long time, it's weird that I just overthink it...

Re: Fears

After speaking with a friend about fears etc, she'd suggested hypnotherapy but dunno how I feel about that. I've so far avoided any professional opinions on it because people really judge you for...

Re: Fears

Really stupidly, im terrified of driving (yeh great idea to move to Canada, huh?!) At the moment I find it hard to even get behind the wheel at all, although I do keep trying.

I used to drive...

Re: It's that time of the year again...Black Friday

Re: It's that time of the year again...Black Friday

Black Friday is even more fun if you're in retail and have to spend the day listening to people bemoaning the lack of deals compared with the US and then trying to haggle with you over the price of...

Re: Question for the ladies

For some reason, I can't find irons that really work over here so I use my English ones. Only the dual voltage ones really work...invest in a set of dual voltage GHDs and then a canadian plug adapter...

Re: What is the one thing that you have grown to love?

Ooooh you've reminded me of one thing/place...Cinnabon. Bloody hated the sickly smell of cinnabon swirls when I first came over, now I can destroy one of those cinnamonny badboys in a second. With...

Re: Best kit to keep warm in?

'Rab' Jackets are amazing...they were a small brand from my neck of the woods (Sheffield) initially designed for hiking & climbing that made it big. They make amazing, really lightweight down-filled...

Re: Hurricane Sandy

My word, the apocalypse appears to be nigh. Quote CBC news, live from somewhere in the GTA:

"It's looking bad, there are some garbage cans that have blown over near where I'm standing"

Lord...

Re: Canadian Expressions that confuse the British

Cottaging is definitely my fave...as in the weather lady yesterday telling us that this weekend would be dry & sunny and perfect weather for cottaging.

Re: British expressions that confuse Canadians

Which always provokes the response from one of our mates "push it to where.....TO WHERE????!!!!"

Re: Weight gain and Canada

Re: new life for a young one
