Hi there, I would suggest looking on www.trademe.co.nz for furnished homes, its really the 1 stop shop for everything in NZ these days and will give you a good idea of pricing etc. As for the flights...

older cars are more expensive as they last longer here (no salt on the roads/snow etc) WOF (MOT) is every year until car is 6years old then every 6mths

I wouldnt say anyway on the shore was run by gangs lol, from what you say I would recommend Browns Bay or Torbay area, few beaches to pick from and only a stones throw from rural areas

see some of my previous posts - at the end of the day I would rather be homeless living under a bridge than rich in the UK, the lifestyle, environment, people etc in NZ are well worth any struggle...

wow, thats still a good drive! All depends where in Hamilton you are going to be working. You'll find TM is great for all kinds of stuff as well as cars, basically its the place all us kiwis go to...

Kiwibank - can use online saver account with zero fees but dont get chequebook just ATM card or visa debit card and all transactions online. I have been with a few banks and kiwbank have been by far...

the last time we did a cheque it was 6 weeks to clear! Much better just to do an electronic transfer.

Was a kiwi to age 6 then went and lived in the north of England fo 16 years so did all my schooling, first driving, first employment etc etc over...

totally - and using the bank is the best way to go, my family in the Uk have been doing this for a few years now ever since 2 large xmas parcels went 'missing' in the UK sorting office

if you want a cheap run-around (under $4k) then trade-me for sure, otherwise go to a dealer where you have some security and protection should something go wrong
