Not seen a local classified ads paper, but most people advertise through Trade Me. We do have the Taupo Times and the Taupo Weekender newspapers, you could check those out...

We too are from Derbyshire (Hilton) and have been in NZ a year now. We started off in Auckland for 5 months and moved down to Taupo last July. We absolutely love it here, so much to do...

The sky tower is great so you can get your bearings. You can also jump on the ferry and go over to Waiheki island for the day. Where abouts in Auckland are you staying ? :)

Really does depend on where you live, I have never come across any shouting out of car windows !

If you like the great outdoors, then Taupo is the place to be. There is always an event going on...

Would definately agree with raincoats. My husband and 3 kids all had new raincoats from Millets before we came and I wish I had bought myself one too. I priced them up in Kathmandu at about $400. ...

I went into farmers yesterday too, 50% sale on all kids clothes and got some great bargains. Bought 3 x T shirts for $6 ea, pair of swimming togs $7, 5 pack of socks $6 and a rain jacket $10 .........

Yay - at last something positive !!

Have to admit we love NZ. Only been here since February and 'yes' we may not be as 'well off' as were were in the UK financially, but, we live in an awesome...
