"Bland" is the one word I would use to sum up Vancouver. Better in the tourist season when there is a bit more of an atmosphere, but in the winter it is soulless.

Congrats! You'll love it. As you rightly say there are homeless people everywhere and in Maple Ridge they tend to stay in the centre. The positives of living here far outweigh the negatives imo.

I have 2 different types of insulin and they cost $600 for 7 boxes which is roughly 3 months supply (solostar pens). Fortunately it is paid for by my husband's extended health plan.

My other half works in Abbotsford next to the airport and we live in Maple Ridge. It takes him 30-40 minutes and he says it is a good commute as he goes against the traffic.
