Re: Photo's of what you love..

Was the Christmas Shop picture
taken in Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds?
It is one of my favourite places.
I'll try to upload some photos when I work it out how to do it.

Re: perth suburbs

Which hospital will you be working at? Then maybe you could look at the suburbs nearby to live.

I don't know anything about Rockingham, but Mindarie has a few restaurants and pubs and is a nice...

Getting a mortgage in the UK after moving back

We will be moving back to the UK in 2-3 years time, and was just wondering what do you do about getting a mortgage after being away for years. We will have lived in Aus for 4-5 years by the time we...

Re: Passport for a newborn baby

Pollyana and faf, thanks for your replies.

I agree.
Never had any trouble from any landlord or estate agents and we have been renting for 10 years (minus a few years when we actually did have a mortgage, which at the time was a huge mistake).

Re: Would you Buy a House right now !!!!

No way I would buy a house now.

We have a fair amount of savings which we could use as a deposit, but I would be very scared to do that and ending up in negative equity. The money would be tied up...

We live in Perth, so I am not sure if it is the same as Melbourne, but we don't have to pay any council tax as tenants.
And we only pay some part of the water rates, we have just paid only $84...

Re: Australia really is the most phenomenally overrated concept/place ever, isn't it.

Not all of us move out here for a "pathetic obsession with sunshine and big houses" as you put it.
Having said that, you might have had that "expectation" when you first came out and obviously...
