Have you been told how long your containers will take toarrive?
Ours took 3 months plus two weeks in quarantine.

But with half a containers, it varies, because your stuff might have to wait for someone elses stuff to fill the container up.

Our full container took 8 weeks and the overspill a further 2 weeks after that. Our overspill went into a shared contaienr.

Hi

Was this for shared container or do you mean 1/2 as in 20ft. I've just got quote from Anglo Pacific for 20ft and it was at least double your quote.

Cheers

Got a quote from Crown for a 20" sole use container from Newcastle to Cairns for £5885. Anyone else think that this quote is a bit excessive? PSS and Anglo Pacific are due to visit soon for an updated quote as both quotes were around 4.5K last may/june and are no longer valid.

It was for a shared container.

But we shipped very little, only two small sofas, small dining table with chairs, coffee table and a small fridge + personal belongings.
Didn't even ship the washing machine, bed and mattress or anything bulky.

I as would many people I think, would be interested to hear about your experience with the car and some costs, please let us all know when you have done it.

Hello,

We have just had a quote from Anglo Pacific which was £3810 - this was approx for 715 cubic feet so more or less a whole 20ft container. This is taking virtually everything we own.

Is this quite a good comparable quote?

I want to get in a few other quotes - any recommendations of other companies to try that people have had good experience with?

Thank you
Jackie

Hi

We found that Anglo were the most expensive quote.

John Masons were the best.

Just an update, our new quotes came in with PSS quoting £3550 and Anglo Pacific quoting £5000. Do you think I could get them down any lower?

Are these prices inc vat?

I have been quoted £3500 for 20 foot and £5430 for 40 foot (ex vat) and excluding insurance

This is from London to Perth

Does this quote seem expensive?

Hi jackie. We used whites who have a depot in Farnborough. They were very good, both at their end and so where the company they use in australia (movements international). They quoted 3300 for a 20ft container,I asked if they would do 3100 and they immediately replied yes, which left me wondering if i should have asked for a bigger discount?

Shipping time was about 9 weeks door to door, and nothing was damaged apart from the glass on two large pictures.

good luck with your choices ,Mark.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions. Have John Masons coming round next week - had Pickfords in last week and their quote was better than Anglo's. What shocked us was the insurance - Pickfords had 2 options - a list of everything then it was 2.5% insurance on the total value then another 5% of Prem tax insurance or £40 per cubic ft and then tax on top of that - seems alot of money. Quotes were about £3200 for 704 cft

Any one used an independant insurance company - can this be done?

Mark - Farnborough not far from me so will also contact your recommendation - thank you.

Thanks again
Jackie

This is the one thing that is clear from all container threads, Letton Percival will let you go direct for your insurance and are below 2% and they are the company most moving agents use anyway while adding their mark up.

It might be worth telling the agents you want a quote with and without insurance so they know you are not totally green.

Lets face it most of these quotes are a one off for us so any agents first quote is probably a lets see if they bite figure.
