Container Average Costs From UK
Hi, I know that this has been discussed to death so far but most discussions are for 1/2 containers (no size discussed) etc. I have quotes from Crown, Pickfords and John Mason all for a 40ft High Cube (What ever that is) container of between £9.5K and £11K inc insurance.
These are their first offers and I will be initiating negotiations this week to get the best possible price. My questions to all of you who have had quotes or who have shipped is what did you actually pay (therefore what should I try to achieve in my negotiations) for your containers. I'm interested in the prices mainly for 40ft containers but think that a lot of people on here are also keen to know actual costs of a 20ft as well. Therefore if in any reply put down the company name, the size of container, (1/4, 1/2, full), cost paid / quoted, Date quoted / used, destination, extras included or paid for additionally. That way we can all get an idea of how far the big shipping companies will actually bargain down to and therefor help us all to collectively gain a better price. I will tabulate all replies and then work out a way of posting either here or somewhere else that will make the details available to all. Thanks and any info gratefully received. |

Full use of a 40ft container from Fife to Perth was £5,700 excluding insurance. I think Anglo Pacific wanted 3% for insurance.

We had a 20' container and got a few quotes, then started haggling with 2 of the companies to get the price down, both said they couldn't move but both did a couple of times and then started going for some extra free storage with them as well - do haggle

Sole use 40ft (half filled with possessions, the other half car) from Scotland to Brisbane with Doree Bonner £5990 plus insurance.

Did the removal company not have issues with you bringing your car in half the 40 footer, i tried to getting quotes to do that and was told by movers who specialise in importing cars that the general removal co will promise that they can do this but when arriving in oz they are unable to or have difficulty in clearing customs and did not have all the correct paperwork and proceedures in place - long term - will cost you in the long run. Just check this out before you go:unsure:

Thanks and any info gratefully received. pss - £6500 plus 2.8% for insurance Abels - £9400 plus 3.1% crown - £7000 plus 3% got crown down to pss level, and abels to crown. Going with Crown as liked dealing with same company throughout. Not using any of them for insurance and Letton percival do the same policy for 1.6% good luck |

So far the best prices are:-
Anglo Pacific 20 Foot £1,765 Simpsons 40 Foot £5,100 The average prices are :- 20 Foot £ 1,965 40 Foot £ 5,986 All of these provide no insurance and are based on a generic view of from UK to OZ, but do at least provide a guide line of how much leaway the shippers have in their quotes. I will keep this updated as more people provide their input as it will allow us all to ensure we save as much money as possible for ourselves when we arrive in Oz rather than line a shippers profits. We are just going for a year and so I was looking at getting half a container,I've seen people say that it can take 6 months to get there though :blink: Have you been told how long your containers will take toarrive? |
