Reasons why some of you are real bitter about migrating to Australia.
REASONS WHY BRITISH EXPATS ON THIS SITE ARE HAVE A HARD TIME IN AUSTRALIA.
If you cannot get through this then you'll struggle here.
1. Location
A lot of you are buying in large cheap areas out in the middle of no where which most normal middle class Australians wouldn't even bother to visit or at the very least carry a weapon when they travel at night. Suburbs in Perth such as Joondulup, Woodvale and Quinns rock in Perth for instance are absolute outter shitholes. I live in City Beach and when the time comes that I need to move from this area Perth is no longer for me.
2. Jobs
A lot of you seem to forget that you are filling a skills shortage in an area where we have a shortage. No disrespect but there are many jobs that Australians won't do or have little respect for people doing and one thing I've noticed on this forum is that a lot of the people are trained in these professions. In short don't expect to have the same respect level from people in Australia compared to England. Australia more than England is about status.
3. Safety
Australia is not much better for safety if thats a reason a lot of you are coming out here. Melbourne for instance can very dangerous in many areas and parts of Brisbane and Perth are also very dodgy. Look at the Murder per capita rate and you'll find that Australia is dangerous and knife culture exists.
4. Personal issues at home
Moving out here will make things worse.
5. Oh those dammit immigrants tookmy job back.
Generalising Australia is not a racist country more the fact that the Uk andother countries are a lot more PC on things. But racism does exist like many western countries.
I challenge anyone to name a more diverse country than Australia.
6. Cost
Australia is loads more expensive than anywhere in Britain and anyone who disagrees with this is a clown. Also the Financial landscape has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. Sterling will never be 3-1 again if you're waiting for that well then you'll never get here.

I live in a suburb next to Joondalup and disagree that these areas are 'shitholes' There are some suburbs around the place that are a little run down and not areas I would care to live but for some they are all that is affordable. For many they are better than the area they came from. City Beach is inaccessible for the majority of normal migrants. I couldn't afford to buy there and my husband is on a reasonable salary and we arrived 5 years ago and couldn't afford then either.

I think it's fairly accurate. Australia is all about status, where you live and what you do.
I'm not looking down on anyone for the record I work as D2D salesmen and live with my parents. I'm hardly one to talk.

And as Northernbird and Kingseat have quite rightly pointed out, the outer suburbs are not "shitholes" as you so eloquently describe them. They are where many of us choose to raise our families.
My husband and I for example moved to Australia from a very busy city and love living in the outer suburbs where we can actually see the stars at night and not have them blanked out by the lights of the city. We like the idea of kangaroos in the national park we back onto. The kookaburras waking us up in the morning. The fact that we can walk out our front door, cross the street and be in the bush.
Grow up, get yourself a real job and maybe see what it's like in the real world.

Maybe, just maybe there are some people out there who want to (as ADULTS) make the decision for ourselves without a D2D Salesman who lives at home putting a downer on our 'dream'. You know, those of us with our own families who want to do something for us and our children just as, I am assuming your parents did.

You haven't a clue about real life have you?
Who are you to criticise suburbs where other "normal" people live, when you are living with mummy and daddy in city beach, whilst the people who live in the "shitholes" work hard to be able to pay their mortgages.
I reckon if it wasn't for your mummy & daddy, you wouldn't even be able to live in the areas which you describe shithole.
BTW, if you think that places like Joondalup is a shithole, you've seen nothing mate and have no idea what a real shithole is like.

OMG... you come across as the biggest asshole. How dare you sit there and criticise where other people live, calling places like Joondalup, Quinns and Woodvale shitholes. Must be nice to be living with good old mum and dad in City Beach. Most of us on this forum could not afford to live in City Beach, nor would I want to if the people that live in City Beach have your attitude.
Have you come out from your little rock that you are living under and seen the rest of Perth. I work in Midland, and work with the most disadvantaged people.... you want to see shitholes, then head out to the eastern suburbs, even then I wouldn't class them as shitholes, just ordinary working class suburbs.
Hell I live out in the eastern suburbs, out in the boonies, so I guess I live in a shithole according to you. Personally I think your attitude sucks !!!.
