Re: "policy" to not give work references now?

This isn't unusual is it?? I remember this happening in the 80s! They shy from writing stuff down for fear of litigation - a phone call is another matter though - usually that's OK.

Re: TELEVISIONS

Have a look at the "Sky+" thread - it will definitely work if it has AV ports using either Sky, DVD etc or Freeview. May or may not work on UHF.

One point - SCART isn't so widely used here,...

Re: advice re flight via LAX

You don't need to clear US Immigration unless you are flying Business Class or above and want to use the lounges. Otherwise, you'll be corralled into a rather unlovely waiting area with a drinks...

Re: Sky?

As has been said, your UK Sky+ box won't work there. What you may not know is that you won't even be able to watch what you have recorded on your UK box because the Sky Sofware requires a Sky...

Re: Childcare Services

Have a look at http://porse.co.nz/home/index.htm. Kindy's here are pretty hopeless - they just make sure the kids can't escape, but that's about it - there's no stimulation. Porse is only an agency...

UK Passports

My UK passport expires in August. I have my PR in my passport. I am going to the UK in April. NZ requires that, on entry to the country, my passport has at least 6 months to run.

So, I have to...

Re: confused

Thirded - the immigration process isn't so difficult and, as has been said, these agents charge a lot.

BTW - if you're a child-minder, your services will be very much in demand in Auckland. Have a...

Re: Medical referral, how long?

Kags - if memory serves, I think their SLA is 4 weeks. They usually get it done sooner though.

Hope it works out well for you - fingers crossed!

Re: ANY TIPS FOR KEEPING COOL!!

We've got air-con in the house, but I just bought a fan from the Warehouse for the downstairs apartment (no aircon there) for $50, and it even has a sleep mode which starts nice and cool but then...

Re: The state of the GBP

The latest rate drop in the UK ain't going to help exchange rates, but as with all investments, you win if you can afford to choose your time. We've still got quite a lot of money in the UK, but I'm...

Re: MCP certification

I don't know about Immigration NZ, but it wouldn't work with me. For the record, I'm an MCSD and it counts for nothing. Demonstrable experience, on the other hand, is worth everything.

That said,...

Re: Moving 2NZ, you only see what you want to see. Think long and hard.

My brother was murdered in Chester in 1978. A nice, posh city like Chester, eh?

Shit happens everywhere - don't blame the location. We still visit Chester, and it's a great City. One scumbag...
