Default Childcare Services

Hi.

Does anyone know of any childcare providers / childminders / day nurseries for North Shore area in particular Greenhithe / Torbay / Mairangi Bay / Browns Bay / Albany / Red Beach / Stanmore Bay areas?

Will be needing one for our 3 year old.

Thanks for your help.

Steven.

Try sending a PM to Michelle&Carl.
Michelle lives in the area and has preschoolers. She is also doing her 2nd year of her ECE degree

Hi! Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I'm just about to pop out but will reply as soon as I get home with all I know from the Bays and up here in Rodney

Have a look at http://porse.co.nz/home/index.htm. Kindy's here are pretty hopeless - they just make sure the kids can't escape, but that's about it - there's no stimulation. Porse is only an agency really, but you do at least get to interview the childminders and most are very good.

Lots of kiwi friends of mine do a mixture of kindy and preschool, doing 2 sessions at Kindy and 3 at preschool.

i just send mine 9-1 every day. Used to do 9-3 Mon, Weds & Friday but wanted him to get used to going every day, before he goes to school

Hi.

Thanks for the replies.

We will be after something more for the full day - i.e. 8am to 4.30pm 5 days a week - as we are both likely to be working after we arrive.

So looking at either a 'child minder' who looks after several other children based at their own home or a 'nursery' or a 'pre-school' that offers similar service - don't really want something that is split between different types.

I assume kids start school fulltime when they are 5?

Also we have an 8 year old so if anyone knows of any after school childcare would be most appreciated.

Thankis for all your help.

Sorry to hijack but was about to post a similar thread about childcare (although I don't know where exactly we'll be in NZ yet!)

Does anyone have any more info or a link on eligibility for 20 hours free childcare? Are there work or citizenship/visa requirements? Any info on kindy and preschool ages? My daughter was 3 last September. Thanks!

Ours go to Lollipops in Orewa and are very happy there. Two of the best members of staff have/are about to leave to open another Lollipops in Mairangi Bay, so I could recommend either place quite happily. You get some discount because of the 20 hrs free - how much depends on hours of attendance and the establishment

hiya

you can get after care where lucy goes, the lady had just collected them all on the bus when i was collecting lucy there.you would have to ask whatage though asim not sure, i did see one boy who at a guess was 8ish

http://www.kidicorp.co.nz/ they have them all over nz

as to post about free 20 hours, you can get these here but you can pay an optional 1.75 an hour i think it pays for lunches and other things or you can give them a packed lunch in with them..food is fab though so def worth it
