My italics. But if we lose to the reed-and-white-stripy-buggers by any score then even King Kevin had better get a body guard around Toon.

Not strictly Toon Army or EPL some good games in the Champion's League yesterday. Wins for Barcelona against Celtic, Man Utdagainst Lyon, Arsenal against AC Milan, and the shock result in my opinion of Fenerbahce beating Sevilla on penalties.

Lets see who else goes through today. Does anyone know why Liverpool are playing West Ham today and their 2nd leg CL game next week?

Because the San Siro was used yesterday for the Arsenal - Milan game.

Hey Hook,

I watched your lot and it was a very good match with two excellent teams on the day. Arse deserved the result though IMHO. Someone told me that's the first time an EPL team have won at San Siro... is this true?

First time any English team have beaten Milan at the San Siro.

Fantastic match to watch, if frustrating til the final 10 minutes :)

First time an English team have beat AC Milan there. We beat Inter milan there 5-1 a few seasons ago in the CL too.

I agree with the frustrating, but it was a fantastic game. Good point about the Liverpook game Bazz.

...and even a few raised eyebrows amongst the (lapsed) Pompey supporters. Didn't see the game but was mildly amused at the invective spouted by Ferguson in the press since - perhaps if his precious synchronised-diving team were a little less good at crying wolf the ref would pay more attention when they are actually fouled, as Ronaldo apparently was. Strangely, I can't bring myself to feel too much sympathy.

Looks like there is a realistic prospect of the cup spending a season at Fratton Park for the first time since WW2!

I wondered when you'd be along. :D

Pompey have drawn WBA in the semi-final so still a couple of (quite low) hurdles to go.

Best of luck.

If they do make it past West Brom I might even have to venture forth to a suitably televisually-equipped hostelry to watch the final...

Dont get too used to it (the premiership that is)

The return of the messiah wasnt the only thing I prediceted in this thread...but if they do go down this year (and I think it a real possibility if they keep playing like they are) then they will be ahead of my schedule.

The first freaky goal pretty much summed up NUFCs season for me. AFter that they were dead men walking

Arrogance is only attributed to those who are not sucessfull yet boast about being so, or are overly confident when it is not justified. i do not think you could make either remark about utd, or their fans when they celebrate their success, i am sure when you avoid relegation this year you will be delighted.
my previous comments were not sarcastic, told you before i have a soft spot for kev from childhood days, do think he is looking old though, simple as that.

Manchester United outclassed 10-man Liverpool to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table.

perhaps this reporter has a good dose of hubirs, then again maybe he is just reporting the facts. how nice it is not to be so bitter.

That's "hubris", prawn-muncher.

Today's result seems to lend weight to the opinion that your American slave-masters are luckier than Liverpool's American slave-masters.

The Geordies are OK. We're going to live to fight another day against foreign mega-dollars and London-Manchester Commie Media-bollocks.

what can i say, i love my team, no matter who owns them, how they do, what they serve on their sarnies or who buys them. always been a meat and potato pie man.

when you watch the match at home, do you take your shirt off, exposing the belly and scratch marks from the previous nights wife beating, like a true geordie fan.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

Rae

agree with you I've been a Season Ticket holder since they got relegated in 1973/74.

Had to sit through a lot of rubbish since then but the good times eventually came back as they will one day for Newcastle.....

But whether you are a prawn sarnie eater, bread and dripping eater or meat and potato pie man spanning a hundred and something years.....nobody has ever seen Man United beat Liverpool in 5 consecutive league matches like they did yesterday.

Novacastrian......Newcastle will stay up no problem......there are at least 3 teams a lot worse than you.....I'm rooting for you because how would we get our impressive goal difference without you?
