Good news from Africa...if Benin and Cote d'Ivoire draw their last group match, Nigeria will be out and we can get Obafemi back early-doors. So far he hasn't been crocked.

After the heady delights of the last two games in Lahndun, we have the Smoggies at St. James' on Feb 3rd. Shirley we can score a goal at the right end against them?

No he's not. Get back to the Fosters or start a thread on Aussie Rules.

Mr. Green, if we can't beat the smoggies at the weekend I'd say your 40-1 odds are looking a bit promising (sad to say).

On the bright side we've only lost one of the last eleven games against Boro at St. James's. (But I wouldn't take 40-1 against our making that 2 out of the last 12).

<considers suicide>

I see Niall and Biffa over at nufc.com are in a bad mood this morning....I quote...

Enough

Enough patronising bollocks from every man and his dog masquerading as news or comment on events in this region, this city and this club - you simply haven't got a f**king clue what you're on about.

Try reporting the facts instead of what you or your London masters would like to hear.

Try getting past the KK "Messiah", "Second Coming", "impatient fans" - all cliches invented by the media, not the supporters.

Try seeing past brain dead Vox Pops or meaningless online polls as spurious evidence that the lies you pen have any basis in local opinion.

Try hiding the regional prejudice that would see you branded as racist, were it to be presented as news about other nationalities.

For a club that isn't "big" (whatever that means), it doesn't half get a lot of coverage....

To anyone still paying money for The Mirror, The Sun, The News of The World, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Express and The Mail, why not just read their continual anti-Toon tirades online instead of shelling out for the privilege of being insulted and/or patronised?

Exhibit A: The scandalous Sun and Mirror front pages this week with Keegan / £100m / Wise concoctions.

Exhibit B: The Mail's allegedly funny Dennis Wise diary stumbles to day 3 here. Somebody is getting paid for writing that.

Exhibit C: Victoria Derbyshire, Nicky Campbell, Alan Green, Eamonn Holmes, Clem, Gabrielle Marcoti, Terry Butcher, Steve Claridge: you're the shite, you're the shite of Radio 5. Bigots all.

Support the Toon...and don't believe the tripe.

Now let's just get back to the football. Please."

That should do it.

Good result for Captain Hook today. Rather less good for Rae.

The mackems lost too, so tomorrow morning could complete a satisfactory weekend or lead to thoughts of suicide.

Thanks Novo.

It used to be a running joke that referees let ManU keep playing until either they score or Ferguson taps his watch. Three minutes added time today, yet ManU scored in the 90th+4 minute.

Good luck against Boro.

yes, though spurs at home currently is a very uncertain tie, i know they have lost to lesser teams, but they drew against liverpool and recently thrashed arsenal away obviously, so very up and down. still no excuses, saved by tevez granted, we'll see what the cup tie brings.

I will say that you guys kept on going right til the end.

Referee wasn't great but Rooney did deserve his card. Some of the others didn't though.

Fair enough. And in return for your civilized remarks, I propose a moments silence on the board on Wednesday Feb. 6th at 9:30 am EST which is exactly 50 years from the time that Busby's Babes were decimated in the Munich air crash.

I'm just old enough to remember it.

on a more upbeat note, derby on sunday, though rooney is suspended, there must be a closet blue on here, they normally come out just before a derby, then slink away after the inevitable thrashing.

All's quiet on the northern front. Tomorrow Aston Villa (to be honest they're a club I've never had strong feelings about one way or the other, but tomorrow they are of course devils incarnate).

I was wrong about the Africans returning unscathed, Martins is out with an ankle injury (and Geremi is still out there for the final).

Que sera sera.
