And all is forgiven. It doesn't really matter what happens with the rest of the season as long as they stuff the mackems.

Sad, isn't? But nothing less than the whole truth.

It'd be nice to stuff Chelsea as well though.

From nufc.com

A season that simply couldn't end quick enough for us a month ago has now belatedly become a thing to cherish and enjoy - with a discernible buzz in Toon again about next season and Keegan's plans for world domination.

For now though, a reassertion of regional superiority was most welcome.

<basks in regional superiority>

oohhh, 0-0. ronaldo misses penalty, good grief. all set for the return next week then, no predictions this time, too close just hope deco and messi still are not fit and bloody henri falls on something sharp, was not happy to see him come on at all. scholes magnificent, giggsy wasted should have come on for park at half way.

possibly, or a tatical masterstroke by fergie, if you look at the away leg at roma, very similar, odd choices to play and very defensive. we'll see. fingers crossed ronaldinho not fit.

Interesting results in the EPL today, eh? Toon continue their unbeaten streak and now have a hand in the premiership outcome for Chelsea and (by default) for Man U as well. At least next week's game won't be just a formality.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

After all their efforts, it's hard to believe that Man U might end the season with nothing.

Looking forward to next season, I think your lot are guaranteed a minimum of 17th place (I mean, looking at the current promotion selection from the championship). I can't see any of those teams faring much better than Derby did this year.

1 Stoke 45 14 78
2 West Brom 44 31 77

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

3 Hull 45 19 75
4 Bristol City 45 -2 71
5 Watford 45 6 69
6 Crystal Palace 45 11 68

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

7 Wolverhampton 45 4 67
8 Ipswich 45 8 66
9 Sheff Utd 45 6 66

It's not hard to believe at all. But we'd love to beat Chelsea for you anyway.

hmm thats one way of putting it. i believe newcastle were very lucky, one commentator mentioning your defence and titus bramble in the same sentance and that can never be a good thing.
worrying times at utd, possible turn around next week with the return leg against barca. still think we'll get league title at the pie eaters last game.

I used to go to see Stoke in early seventies when Banks was their keeper and they had the genius of Alan Hudson

I felt gutted for them yesterday because they were promoted until Hull scored their winner with 5 mins to go !!

united will draw against west ham leaving us to go to the toon last game of season where we shall hand outa footballing lesson. Result chelsea champs Fergie choking on his gum and king Kev pulling out his dodgy perm.

Re: The Toon Army / EPL thread

Nah, they're not "my lot". They've just been incredibly entertaining to watch this season, don't you think?

Same with Arsenal (at least for the few times I've seen them). Like I say, really surprising to think that Man U. could end with nothing and Chelsea have somehow got a chance to win both the Champions league and EPL.

King Kevin agrees with you rae...

"I'd sooner be a lucky manager than a good one, to be honest,' said Kevin Keegan. 'Alex Ferguson's a very lucky manager." - today's Observer match report.

Who are you going to be cheering for on May 5th?

In his ordo est ordinem non servare - In this case the only rule is not obeying any rules.

Shite are dead meat. King Kev rules.

well no prizes for that one. fergie has been lucky, but we have suffered our fair share of bad luck recently as well. i'll take a lucky win over a hard fought loss anyday of the week, at the end of the season, does any body really remember all those lucky moments, probably not, just who is holding the cup.

but you cannot count on lucky streaks etc, and there is always the old argument of making your luck. i remember the first big arrest i had. an old sgt congratulated me, i said i was just lucky, right place right time. he replied, "no such thing as luck, its just good hard work"

i agree it will go to the last game, said so some time ago on here.
wigan away or newcastle away. take wigan everytime even with our previous result against toon, the rivalry with keegan now he has got his team in order, may have just proven too much.

We have a chance and thats all you can ask for with only a couple of games to go.
See liverpool fielded a crap team so they could rest all the big boys ahead of the return leg. its a disgrace they have an advantage over chelsea and manu just because they have had nothing domestically to play for since january

More pearls of wisdom from King Kev....

Asked if he thought Fergie would send him a case of wine for beating Chelsea on Monday he replied:

"I doubt it! Not a good one anyway. It'll be one of those Chateauneuf du Plonk!"

"I'm only kidding. I don't have a preference who wins the title. The best team usually win — except the time when we lost it. That time the best team came second."

Sour grapes make fine wine after all.

Not at all. A typically churlish remark too.

Y'rup 1-0 at the half.

Final result as well....an all England Champions League Final...hopefully it will be a Man U/Liverpool final for 2 biassed reasons.....I think Man U can beat Liverpool more readily than Chelsea and there is more of a rivalry.

Hopefully, Gary ' I speak in the 3rd person and hate all scousers' Neville won't play in the final.

Talksport are raving about Wes Brown...
