Even though a Gossip n Chit Chat topic was made available at her suggestion, she still doesnt conform to her own rules. I give up !

In my opinion the majority on here have formed a clique, making it very difficult for newbies to even contemplate joining in. I don't contribute often these days because if you don't feel part of the 'club' then you feel very reluctant to join in. Also most talk is so lightweight and so very much 'off topic'. I used to contribute more so (never massively, but more comfortably) in the Douglas days and he was really scarey, but at least gave useful info.

This site used to be a great source of up to date info. I am not in the least interested in anyones drinking/socialising habits (yawn yawn)...keep that to the social networks. At the moment BE Goa forum is no better than ******* Goan advocates, ie. a pile of ***** :D

Rant over :) Enjoy yourselves, pick holes in what i've said...whatever !!.. not really bovvered !

Sorry you feel like that but when people put quotes about the forum like:-

"Its more quiet than a Candolim beach on this site at the moment, is the low rupee keeing everyone indoors or is everyone in the queue at FEMA or Registry office or in limbo on 2 months out of India."

Hopefully the more depressing aspects of Goa are giving us all a break for the moment.
There is nothing to report on the Visa situation, nor any new developments with the Property issue.
I feel we must have a laugh and lighten up with tittle tattle. The more people that join in the better.:thumbsup
Welcome back Mitz hope you are feeling better.

Mr. Hague seems determined to develop closer ties with China, India :frown:, Brazil and others “where the economic action is,” as he puts it. Whether these counties reciprocate beyond warm words remains to be seen. He is keen on the Commonwealth. He also says that “the door will be open to Russia.”

The UK is India's largest trading partner in Europe and one of the largest in the world; more than 440 Indian firms have now set up operations in the UK, of which 75% are from the Information and Communications Technology; the UK and India are committed to working together on WTO issues.

The UK is the largest bilateral donor in grant terms. The number of aid donors in India is small and annual aid per head is only $1.50/person, compared to $28/person for Sub-Saharan Africa. So UK aid really counts

Perhaps we should All contact Mr Cameroons new Foreign Secretary Billy Hague about this seemingly never ending one way street ?

Perhaps it would be an idea for everyone on here who is having property problems in Goa to write to William HAGUE. Maybe we could coordinate something so all our letters to him arrive in close succession - that way he might actually sit up and take notice, rather than the old adage of a small few writing to him and receiving the 'individual cases' response.

What do you think folks?

Re: In To-day's Newspapers

Yes Dread, I'll support that.

Also, I know one extremely distressed expat in Candolim who wrote directly to the Queen. I scoffed at it at the time, but she got a very helpful reply from one of the Queen's PR Departments (sent all the way to Goa - and it got there!) saying they were sorry to hear about her property situation and they would forward her letter directly to the Foreign Secretary.

This seemed like a fast track to get some attention at the FCO and it had the gravitas of an HM Queen Buckingham Palace embossed letterhead. I read the letter. Maybe worth a try to get Hague's attention?

Also, I feel people should be e mailing Sir Richard Stagg on how ill prepared and ineffectual he was at his recent meeting with Kamat. He needs to be better informed on the realities of the filth of Goan politics and why it is politically convenient for these mafiosa to keep the foreigner property issue on the back burner. We serve a political purpose whenever they want to rouse the ordinary Goan towards xenophobia, which usually translates into votes. It also distracts from their more nefarious activities; illegal mining, illegal building projects, casinos, land banks, prostitution, drugs, public works kickbacks........

At the same time they give vote bank crumbs to the non Goan immigrants - e.g. water taps, electric supply, roads in Moti Dongor, Margao, part of Kamat's own constituency - to get elected. It doesn't take much. One bicycle or one sewing machine can get an entire extended family's vote. Babush Monserratte, the uneducated Minister for Education is just one expert in such distribution.

So Kamat and his ilk spout 'Goa for Goans' to the common man, and at the same time dish out token gifts and services to the non Goans in the emerging slums and shanty towns which many 'niz Goenkars' wish to be rid of. And 'Goa for Goans' is the lie Kamat fed to Dickie Stagg who wasn't clued up enough to understand the hypocrisy.

If there was even an inkling of human decency in the Goan body politic the foreign property issue could be sorted in an instant by a directive to the Registrar to transfer existing purchases, allow sales so we can remove ourdselves from Goa as being such a problem to them and - since they claim to want to maintain the ethnic purity of the Goan people - an irresolvable debate in itself! - maintain their illegal freeze on all future attempts to purchase (and publicise it, so no more innocent foreigners get conned of their money and trapped by the unpredictable actions of a rogue State Government).

Perhaps we should try another petition also, I doubt if the previous one was read by William Hague. We should also write to our own MP's again asking why when British subjects are being badly treated and India can afford a space program they are getting aid (which we can ill afford at present) from us. I know it has all been done before but we need to keep trying or they will think the problems have just gone away.

Noni, what is your problem, you are quick to critise other posters, when you talk mostly drivel of all, other sites such as india mike are quiet at this time of the year but dont resort to talking utter rubbish to pass the time, even other British expats sites keep up the standards to supply good advice to its readers, nstead you talk of noffis and weather and any other shite you can come out with, does this get me banned from the site, as other posters seem to vanish from this site when they have critisied you before.

Did you read the follow on bit where someone says we need India more than they need us! If thats the case perhaps we should be asking them for financial aid rather than giving aid to India.

No one gets banned from the site for constructive criticism. However I remind you of rule 1 again. If you start sniping at individuals, be they moderators or not, you will not be around too long

Also, people can post what they like on this site as long as it is within the rules so please play fair and (as I already asked you) dont snipe at individuals on the site

Thanks for your cooperation
