20 years ago I had a business in town, had to walk around this part of the town this week and was astonished when a class of 6 year olds came out of the school with their teachers and there was only one white child in the class all the rest were indians. 20 years ago if you saw two indians in a week that was it.:rolleyes:

Today's online news. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Perhaps we all should contact Divya Talwar to let him/her know about the property frauds carried out by South Asians against the British:
(Copywright the BBC) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8704116.stm Asian fraudsters targeting own community One woman was conned into buying a Dubai property which did not exist BBC Asian Network's Divya Talwar discovers hundreds of South Asians are being lured into bogus investment opportunities by professional Asian fraudsters. ''We had chosen a luxury villa in the heart of Dubai, with a private pool, gym and a grand balcony overlooking the sea and sand.'' What sounded like the ultimate holiday getaway was going to be Ria Sawar's new home - a dream property on an affordable budget. It sounded too good to be true and it was. Sitting in her three-bedroom west London home, Ms Sawar looked back at the glossy brochure of the apartments in Dubai that she was given to pick out her ideal villa from. 'He just disappeared' ''It was a two-bed villa decorated with the finest marble and furniture," she recalled. ''The retailer told me he would give me a discount on whatever I chose from the brochure. ''It was all so exciting, the property I had picked out was everything I had ever wanted." Ms Sawar transferred more than £50,000 to a man from a professional property company, only to realise later she had been conned. ''It all seemed so legitimate," she explained. "The man had offices with staff working in them. The company had its own website and, what really sold it for me, was the fact that the company also advertised on Asian TV channels. What I find the most shocking is that someone from my own community had let me down Ria Sawar, a victim of the fraudsters ''But a couple of months after I had given him the deposit, he went into hiding. He just disappeared. ''I realised there was no property in Dubai, there wasn't even one brick that had been laid. ''What I find the most shocking is that someone from my own community had let me down. I trusted him and never thought a fellow Asian would do that.''Ms Sawar is not the only person who has been duped by someone within her own community. Scotland Yard says Asian criminals are deliberately targeting and conning individuals from their own backgrounds because they are seen as easier targets. Det Ch Insp Robin Cross is the head of the fraud squad at the Metropolitan Police. You have to be cautious, do your research and seek professional advice before exchanging any money Det Ch Insp Robin Cross ''It has become clear to us that professional fraudsters are preying on people from their own community and scamming them through all sorts of investment opportunities. ''This is a very sophisticated fraud. It is a living for the criminals and they provide a very believable front to what they do. ''They are highly plausible, as many of these criminals will provide contracts which look legitimate, but they're not.'' Scotland Yard estimates hundreds, if not thousands of people from the Asian community are being targeted in what they describe as a multimillion-pound scam in which victims have lost their entire life savings. Wife 'inconsolable' Mansoor Ahmed, from north London, thought he was securing the future of his family when he took up his investment opportunity. ''My savings were just sitting in the bank and I thought it would be good idea to invest them wisely,'' he said. "An investor promised to make me healthy returns that were compliant with Shariah law. ''I trusted him. He was well known in the community - a practising Muslim. He went to the mosque and was heavily involved in Muslim organisations. I have to start all over again now. I have two daughters that I have to put through school, I'm so worried Mansoor Ahmed, a victim of the fraudsters ''I probably didn't do the research I should have done before handing over my money, but I didn't think there was any reason to doubt him." Mr Ahmed gave the investor £250,000 but he never got a penny back. ''I got an e-mail from him saying the money had all gone, there was nothing left. ''It was like a car hitting you. When I told my wife we had lost everything, she was inconsolable. ''It's knocked us back financially and emotionally. I have to start all over again now. I have two daughters that I have to put through school, I'm so worried.'' Scotland Yard is warning the Asian community to be aware of these criminals. Det Ch Insp Cross said: ''If a deal appears to be too good, then it almost certainly is. "You have to be cautious, do your research and seek professional advice before exchanging any money. ''Once you have been scammed you most certainly won't be able to get your money back. So, before you hand over any cash, make sure you're positive it's not a scam.'' |

Re: In To-day's Newspapers
These people must be so easy to con..........
Can you imagine a native Englishman saying "I cant believe it was someone from my own community (meaning white British)" or "he went to the same church as me and was active in Christian matters" They are probably the off-spring of the ones that sold all the "rent-backs" in Goa................ |

No woman is safe… C Da Costa, Margao The sad and untimely death of young Nadia Torreado, a girl from Loutolim has sent shock waves down the spine of every young girl in Salcette and in Goa. It is public knowledge, although the local newspapers tried to shelve the culprit, despite Goa’s electronic media splashing it all over that people of Goa know who the actual culprit is. It was common view to see this particular controversial minister in the Digambar Kamat ministry flaunt this girl and was also seen recently in Dubai at the finals of a popular football tournament organized by Dubai Goans, wherein the girl in question formed part of the minister’s entourage, despite having a cast in one of her legs. The sins of the ministers in the current Digambar Kamat dispensation are becoming too many for the people of Goa to handle and since Digambar Kamat is protecting such criminals in the sanctuary of his ministry, it would be in the best interest of Goans if the centre shunts the current CM and replaces him with a less corrupt and less evil option. I hope the dead girl and her family will be given justice. Years ago in a molestation case, the Goan voters pulled down a ruling party speaker, it is to be seen if the people will come out to catch hold of Digambar Kamat to sack this monster he has been long rearing in the cabinet and who is responsible for a lot of crimes and has never done justice to the ministry handled by him. I am sure if there is a free and fair investigation, which we doubt, there are more skeletons that will tumble from the closet… Maybe, the police should raid the minister’s hideouts to stumble upon some proof in this case. Also, like the CM and his infamous double speak, this minister involved recently made a statement in the media that tourist women are not safe in Goa. Is any girl safe from the clutches of politicians in Goa, specially the dreaded woman snatchers? |

Police summon Mickky over Nadia’s death
HERALD REPORTER MARGAO, JUNE 1 For the first time since Nadia Torrado died at Chennai on Saturday last, the police have summoned Tourism Minister Mickky Pacheco for investigations in connection with the death of the Loutolim woman. In another development, police have registered a case of abetment to suicide under section 306 of the India Penal code against unknown persons. It is learnt that the police have also served a letter on the Tourism Minister last night not to leave the state and make himself available for investigations in the case. Investigating Officer, PI Raju Raut Desai on Tuesday dispatched a communiqué to Tourism Minister through the Colva police this evening, asking him to report to the Maina Curtorim police station without fail at 4 pm today for investigations into the death of the woman. However, the summons letter reached the Betalbatim residence of the Tourism Minister only at around 4.20 pm. PSI Sudesh Velip, who was drafted by the Colva police to serve the summons on Pacheco, reached Pacheco’s residence only at around 4.20 pm when the Investigating officer asked the Minister to report at the police station at 4 pm. When PSI Sudesh Velip reached Pacheco’s residence, he is believed to have met Seby, who informed the police that the minister was not at home. When contacted, Lyndon Monteiro, the Officer on Special Duty to the Tourism Minister said the police did send a call letter to the minister, but the police reached Pacheco’s residence late with the letter. “How could the minister respond to the letter when it was served on him only at 4.20 pm when he was asked to report at the police station at 4 pm,†Monteiro asked and made it very clear that the tourism minister has no problem in reporting to the police station since he has nothing to do with the woman’s death. Monteiro said the tourism minister has told the police officer concerned that he would report to the police station on Wednesday morning or any time asked by the police. Meanwhile, the SP, South has ordered the investigating officer to register a case of abetment to commit suicide against unknown persons. Sources in the police department said Section 306 of the IPC would be added to the case already registered by the police in connection with the death of the Loutolim woman. “Right now, the police will register the offence of abetting Nadia’s suicide against unknown persons and proceed with the investigations,†a police officer said, adding that the police investigations into the case are moving in the right directions. Meanwhile, Chief Minster Digambar Kamat on Tuesday said that he would not take any stand on the demand made in several quarters to drop Tourism Minister Mickky Pacheco from the ministry. During an informal chat with newsmen, Kamat said, “There is no question of me taking any stand on the issue. I cannot directly interfere in the matter as investigating agencies are presently investigating into the incident.†Replying to a question, the chief minister said he would certainly “examine†if any complaint is handed to him in connection with the case. I do not think recycling quite covers it as it will sadly still be the same old 'Mikkey' if he gets re-elected.
