To-day's Navhinda times and article "Security on Beaches comes to the fore"
The latest excuse is that quote:-

One of the reasons given for absence of the police on the beach area was that there is a shsortage of police staff -that is true of all beaches - they are only there to collect money from the beach sellers. - they should get on with their proper jobs and stop filling their own pockets. then perhaps the children would be safe.

Looks like at this very moment events are unfolding to decide the future of Kronic Kamat. It turns out his standard response to anyone who approaches him is "Please see my son-in-law"............reverse nepotism maybe?

This seems to have prompted a complete revolt within his party, the usual rush of "advisors" from Delhi, and a greater likelihood than others recently that he will be replaced.

Unfortunately the front-crawlers are Rane Senior, who looks like he expired several years ago and has recently declared himself close to retirement, or God forbid, Churchill Alemao! This creature looks like a thug, sounds like a thug, is clearly uneducated, has a long criminal record, has recently publically supported other criminals and has in the recent past been very anti-foreigners in Goa...

Be afraid, be very afraid

Personally I think they should give it to the elderly Doctor DeSouza from Saligao

Better a Willy in power than a dick............

I thought Mr Alemao had made some very hopeful and encouraging comments about Brits owning property in Goa, upon his return from London late last year?. If anyone in all of Goa can solve this positively for Brit FNs, it's him, so please try not to antagonise a potentially bright future.

No one is trying to antagonize any potential bright future. Three weeks before he visited the UK he went out to Saudi-Arabia and promised all the Goans the property they were going to confiscate from the FNs at rock bottom price.

Once again British people living and working in Goa are in the limelight in the herald letters today, and they and their estiblishments have been named, if the newspaper can print their names why cant we start naming and shaming the advocates and builders that have duped us, i feel this letter ( which is similair to one printed few weeks ago) is a fake to try and discredit us again.
I can only speak for the people i know that have been named but they are legal and have fought hard for their buisness visas.

After reading other threads I feel it is o.k. to name and shame BUT ONLY YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES not hearsay and then continually slagging somebody off.
Just plain facts should be allowed - then people should not report threads.

There is an old maxim in English Law "The greater the truth the greater the libel" - so be warned!

It used to be said that there are only three defences to a charge of slander or libel:

I didn't say it/ publish it.
I did say it/ publish it but it isn't defamatory.
I did say it/ publish it and it is true and in the public interest.

I'm told the public interest defence is interpreted very narrowly.

But how are people going to know who to keep away from if we do not tell them? Other threads in other countries on BE name and shame so why should we be different if it is a persons personal experience. As I said keep to the facts and don't turn it into a personal tirade

Some builders have already been named, and also restaurants.

This letter writer is from Mumbai but can name the entertainers - one on the list I know but does not use his own name when entertaining so how come this man knows it when he is supposedly an Indian tourist.

Quite right Poppetjay. On reading it what struck me was the fact that although various foreign individuals and foreign owned businesses were specifically named in detail, the restaurant where the alleged incident happened was not named. Why not when everything else was so specific? It would be logical to name the place too. Because, as you say, there was no such restaurant and that this incident did not happen. The letter is a fake and demonstrates another yet even more devious tactic against foreigners. Sadly though, many [people will take it at face value.
