I agree with on on the NFL, and no im not aware of any other teams being invited either. Although there was NFL Europe.

As for the baseball arguement. The best players from around the world are scouted and most of they are at the top of the game persai will end up competing in the MLB. This is where the most money by far is to be had of any baseball league in the world.

You do not get many Europeans in MLB as many are not good enough to compete, you do get a ton of South and Central Americans who have the skills to compete in the league and therefor do.
The rest of the world doesn't want to play american sports because they suck. They are all existing sports made sucky by being redesigned around the needs of TV advertising: NFL = rubgy with ad breaks; baseball = rounders with ad breaks; basketball = netball with ad breaks, the list goes on.

Its every four years...an injury at the wrong time and you can miss the olympics at your peak, even as the most dominant athelete. Hence the reason world championships are held annualy in most sports outside of the olympic years. No senior soccer, rugby, cricket, american football at the olympics. Baseball excludes the big names, basketball only intrduced them to boost TV revenue as it was something of a joke to field US college atheletes, same goes for Ice Hockey, which still has problems with getting the top NHL stars out. Still, for Field Hockey the olympics is certainly the pinnacle of the sport, despite annual or biannual world championships....

A feeder league to blood roster players at best

By that argument winning the premier league makes you world cup champions, yay! Or alternativbely Real MAdrid are the world champions as they have the best and best paid footy players

No, you dont get europeans in MLB because no one plays baseball in europe, not since the early 1900s anyway. Inversely cricket was once popular in the US, but died a death due to class issues and race.

I think rounders and netball are something I played when I was 8. I think netball may be played by some ladies. If were talking amateur sports i think 2 of the 3 you just listed take the title on those.

The original rules of baseball were lifted verbatim from those of rounders. Also, it is true that netball is a sport played by some ladies - much like basketball.

At least the UK has the decency to invent various sports but to suck royally at them.

I could think of a lot things to describe Jocky Wilson but I think they cover just about everything in Rule #2. An artist maybe, but an athlete no.

Well, when it comes to sports I would wager baseball and hockey are just as if not more international than cricket and rugby. Basketball certainly is.

NA football is virtually confined to NA. The best thing about NA Football is the betting and the sports leagues/drafts. If you don't enjoy betting or playing in sports fantasy leagues against friends and/or strangers you likely won't enjoy it as much. Most games are on Sunday so it makes it easy to socialize.

Sports like Hockey and NA football cost a fair amount to play, in the case of hockey you need an indoor ice sheet. The best thing about soccer is the age of the game and the fact you only need a ball to play. It is popular because it is simple and costs nothing.

Soccer however, I just can't take that seriously. I watched a game during the last world cup. The first half hour seemed like the players were content to stand around and not venture too far into the other teams zone, then, all of a sudden, I saw one of the players moving at a half decent speed towards the goal when Cinderella cracks the heel of his glass slipper and collapses to the ground in pain. Judging from the reaction it appeared to be a shattered femur. The paramedics came trotting on to the field with the stretcher (for the third time) but it was discovered that Cinderella would pull through also and was well enough to continue. This happened 6 more times, twice more to Cinderella. In fact, the last time Cinderella got hurt his team was offered a free shot on goal from point blank range even though no one actually touched Cinderella. It was the only goal of the game.

Why has nobody mentioned lacrosse?

The one truly Canadian sport? (after all, ice hockey was invented by Scots immigrants who thought playing shinty on ice would be fun).

The first nations called it the "little brother of war" ... having both played and coached, I understand why.

Anyone apart from me even been to an NLL game??

Anyone else apart from me managed to get in a photo with Tracy Kelusky??

Yes, Roughnecks season Tickets (for the coming season) was at ALL the home play off games, Watched the king score his goal in the closing second of the first period (what a star). Was the one screaming loudest when 'we' won the cup.
