Australia or Canada?

I hardly watch the game and certainly don't follow it but from exerts in the news and the odd World Cup match i've seen, i'm suprised these rules haven't been brought in yet.
I imagine if they did, the initial stages of adoption would be fun to watch seeing a huge chunk of the players off the field pouting

I think they should introduce a pink card for diving in football.
That would sort out the cheating Drogba's and Eduardo's.

Or it may be the fact that this is a British forum and being one of the only born and bread Canadians it is next to impossible to find support for my opinion. The tables would be turned if this was a NA forum and the opinions were reversed.
I agree that they may be cracking down on diving but why has it taken decades to do so? it should have been elimanted years and years ago if the fans and players really had a problem with it.
And lastly what would be considered much time spent out of Canada?

Or is it two solitary voices in the darkness
Perhaps no one commented because those in Canada exposed to this dross are only just coming online, or are still tucked up in bed out West...
Or maybe there is nothing to add to the arguments already expressed, and responding to blatant trolling isn't particularly encouraged.
Diving in soccer is largely hated by the fans, and the sooner video replay and serious consequences for it become the norm, the better the game will be for it. If you cared for or followed soccer you would know that a crackdown on it has recently been started by the authorities, although as usual the bumbling fools that run the game have not done an effective job in applying the new directive in a fair or consistent way.
I love soccer, but that does not make me blind to some of its shortcomings. Soccer in my opinion badly needs to introduce a sin bin system to punish teams for certain yellow card offences, and it needs to do something to make the players behave more like rugby or (field) hockey players in their dealings with the ref. Far to much dissent and a lack of respect for the guy in the middle makes them all look like spoiled kids throwing tantrums. Anyone but the captain argues with the ref and the offence should be moved up the field ten yards, that would soon shut them up. But I still prefer soccer to the typical US fair, there is an ebb and flow to the game, it builds over time and there is a tactical chess game going on among the individual battles that is lost to the casual observer.
But maybe that's it, I am a casual observer of US sports, so I maybe just dont get them, not having grown up with them. The stop start nature of them is what annoys me though. You've never spent much time outside of canada, so maybe we shouldnt expect you to offer a balanced view either.

Beats me, I suspect its just under scrutiny now more due to all the TV coverage that surrounds it, so its become enough of an embarrassment now, especially in light of all the international sponsorship money in th game that does not want to be associated with cheats prospering. You may not have noticed, but the largest sponsors out there are american insurance giants, aware of the increasing profile in the US/ globally.
"Much time" would be living permanently in a different country, rather than visiting for a bit.

Soccer is definately gaining in popularity here. You should see Toronto FC, there are a lot of Europeans here and the fans go pretty nuts for them. In a different way from the fans back in Europe though im sure. Fans in NA also like baseball, basketball, football as well as soccer though.
And if that is your definition of "much time" than no i havent spent "much time" in other countries.
