Jim.

Probably the most aptly named services stop on the entire Interstate network

Have a pick up there in a couple of weeks. I'm going in early to see what appears.

Jim.

Nice. You should probably spot a few heavies coming in if you're there early enough.

Collecting a Group of Rifle-Droppers. Hoping to catch a few Long-Hauls before I have to go in and pick them up.

Jim.

Flight Aware is your friend ...

I often wonder, now I think of it, every time I see a coach when I'm out and about - if I've just driven past you

Jim.

I have to take a race down there one day and get set up on the arrival path. I always take 12/45 when I drive to the airport (handy for me since I live not 5 minutes from 12/59 as it is ...) and right at the intersection with 72 they fly right overhead and there are loads of carparks around there I can stop in.

Also, I hear Irving Park Road (IL-19) is a good spot, too.

You're lucky though, cause you get to drive onto airport property and can stop there without being questioned. I bet I couldn't attempt to get in without paying for parking before the rent-a-cops come and hassle me for taking pictures of those things that everyone else can look upon with their eyes without incident.

Remember that time those terrorists blew up a plane with a PENTAX? Yeah, me too :D

(Got off topic there :o)

All depends on which way the wind is blowing.

A good spot for Planes coming in can be the Marriott Hotel, right by Cumberland CTA Station.

Des Plaines Oasis is normally a good spot to watch the Long Hauls taking off, after 4pm, normally. They tend to bank right, above the Oasis, right after take off.
