Brit3964 - £8.50 ph in 1989 sounds pretty good money back then! I did a little bit of filming, hanging out the starboard door of a Puma filming 4 other Pumas doing various battle formations - I was literally hanging mostly out a lot of the time in order to get various parts of host a/c out of shot! It was fun, as I'm sure you experienced!!

Got this vid link from my Old Man yesterday. We used to live near Filton, Bristol. He worked for BAC all his career. I have been in those big hangars. They also tested Concord there when I was a kid. (But I am not a plane spotter!)

Chap, I suspect a person of your calibre could find a way to introduce 'willie up bum' experiences even in flight sim mode - no Leisure Suit Larry required!! :eek:

Yes it was a good rate for back then. I suspect it probably hasn't changed so by now it's crap! It was a union negotiated rate for performing a "dangerous job". The stupid thing was to fly in a fast jet you had to sign a waiver to agree not to sue the UK Government in the event of an accident. The reason being it was too expensive to insure you.

While I was at Boscombe Down I did a lot of filming/stills from helos. One I remember was filming new chaff and flare dispensers fitted to Chinooks for use in Bosnia. The flares look nice and you feel the heat from them when fired.

Small world!

We lived at Tidworth, 4 miles from Boscombe, while I was stationed at Odiham. I joined the Wokka fleet at the end of '95, just as the first deployment to Bosnia was starting. The first Wokkas went out the day after Boxing Day IIRC. I might even have seen some of your footage in training!

Yup. Happy days & nights. First time I experienced 'Elite', the space trading game, at my mate's house, we played it through the night - 17 hrs!! Two teens lads spending the night together - oo-ER!!! But no willies near bums either.

Great stuff. It wasn't until the 16-bit days and my first encounter with Championship Manager on the Amiga that I did my first all-nighter. Then once I discovered Civilization I became essentially nocturnal ...

Possibly. I dunno what happened to the footage after it was handed over to the project manager, I just shot it ;) It was during 1995 though. I seem to remember them trying the dispensers out on Sea Kings too.
