The Black Diamond display team. The only civvy-owned jet display team in the USA. 5x L-39s and 2x MiG17s. Dale Snodgrass flies the MiG with them.

I like the BA B747-400 pic. I didn't know they were still using those on the Transatlantic routes.

The "Dying-Breed" are indeed used on many Trans-Atlantic Services. Still a wonderful sight to see one close-up.

Indeed. Close up they are still massive and dwarf most other airplanes on the ramp. My transatlantic trip in Atlas Air's B747-4F earlier in the year was fun. One cargo pallet alone had 10,000lbs worth of freight on it and the plane was packed from nose to tail - on every flight.

Jim.

They've been using them quite a bit into O'Hare as well, my sons footie team practices on a pitch right under the takeoff path for the 32s. One night they were using both. I was cursing myself for not having the camera with me then. Loads of 744s that evening, including the BA one.

They always used to run them on the LHR-ORD route. Back in 1991 when I was a lowly private pilot, I got lucky and was invited to the flight deck for the approach and landing on a BA 747-200. Joined them up front at 11,000ft holding over Ockham before the approach to 27L. Heathrow never looked so small!

Bloody brilliant!

When I did LHR-ORD it was on the 777 but I've seen both coming and going since I've been here. There's a great video on YouTube though of six US originating BA 747s landing at LHR over the course of a morning.
