Yes I think that is the thrust of the argument. Appeasement gets a bad rap in my book. Yes hindsight is great but at the time when you are still recovering from "the war to end all wars" picking a fight was the last thing anyone wanted.

Likewise in Iran. Invading Iran would be the stupidest thing ever.

Iran is like a 10th rate power while the 3rd Reich was a world leading military power. There is no comparison.
