Maybe this is a Californian thing, but ooooverly pretentious requirements on the simplest of things.
Glass of water. Is organic? With the essence of coconut? Has it passed through the bladder of a chilean bonobo? Do you serve it with faberge egg shavings on the side? Etc. etc. |

It would finally be an opportunity to use the word "artesian" in the correct manner.

Re: Pet Peeves?
Does anybody find that waiters/shop assistants don't listen properly to what you are asking for?? They nod their heads and write things down and then come back with something completely different
I sometimes think it is our accent but more often than not it is them just not listening! Sat night our friend ordered red snapper (en papillote), they brought out halibut ... |

I call it "accent glaze" - a greater interest in listening to the accent that what is actually being said. It seems to be mostly a condition that afflicts women.

Re: Pet Peeves?
Exit 14 on the Pike.
How it can take a half hour to do a mile through the tolls...because the EZ pass sign says left lanes, but the right lanes also have EZP if you're exiting the pike to get to I-95. So you have people weaving all over the place to get through the tolls. Then you've got I-95 exit merging directly on the other side of the tolls to get on the Pike and it's a mess. Exit 13, isn't much better. |
Re: Pet Peeves?
When you go into a new restaurant for the first time, and there's no signage/wayfaring.
Do I go and pick what I want from the food guy first, or go to the register? There's several lines/crowds already and I'm not sure where to go... how hard can it be to develop a system and give your customers the information? I don't want to have to ask!! |

The tree across the street.
In the last couple weeks of nice weather, it has spunked itself so badly over our car that I've used more screen wash in the last couple of weeks than the whole winter, which is unusual. |
