We seemed to worry a lot less back then about children being abducted too. And we didn't usually have the heat in the UK that turns cars into furnesses in a few minutes - what happens if you are run over by some idiot driver after you have strapped your infant into a car and stepped away to park your cart? The chances are very low, but the results could be horrific.

On another note, I've seen that Whole Foods have Parent and Young Child parking spaces. Only place I've seen it apart from the UK.

Re: Pet Peeves?
I would like to add that it amazes me too how they are unable to relocate their 'caaaart' back to it's holding place too. They need to put a pound coin in like they do in a lot back home, that soon solves it!! Not sure how well it would work with dollar bills though.
Anyway, one thing I will praise about US Grocery Stores as opposed to UK supermarkets; we're just back home this week, went to Tesco's for a few bits and you get approx 6 inches either side of your car when parked and if next door is askew you are stuffed!! I would love to see some of the americans trying to fit their trucks into them! :) |

Can't you carry your infant to the car from the cart park? or did arms evolve beyond that since moving? ;)

I can get Heinz beans at Meijer (one of those local ones you might not have of course). I once got some really nice English style cheddar out of Walmart, would you believe? Can't remember the name of it, but there was a Union Flag on the wrapping, my son had found it for me. It was a pretty bloody good sharp cheddar.

Cabot? Actually that's pretty good. The one I get at whole foods has little crunchy things in it. Oh and they sell Weetabix. It's simply the nearest place I can get a bunch of British items at once.
The longer I spend time here, the easier it has become for me to go without British items. Until I go back there and overdose on sweets and cheese and that, of course. |

..... Seems to me the results would be more horrific if you had the children with you when the car hit. At least if they were in the car, they'd have a fighting chance one someone finds them of being OK. If they're with you, then they will be splattered to the four winds too.

It may have been (also mentioned by Nutek above). I haven't had it since.
