Re: Pet Peeves?
visiting mother in law from England who pronounces Benjamin as Benjamun
not the first English person to do so. gets on my nerves and confuses the poor kid. I just want him to get old enough to reply something along the lines of - Nan, what kind of idiot pronounces "min" as "mun"? That would be an extra pocket money day :) |

A different kind of idiot to the one that pronounces water as "wadder" or herbs as "'erbs". Horses for courses and all that.

idiot might be a bit harsh and I understand accents, dropping letters is more common. But you should be capable of pronouncing your grandchild's name? especially when everyone else does, this was my limit :sneaky:

No, I started school in 1983 and left in 1997. Minus the three months from my last A-level in June 1997 and September (when I would have started P1) that was 14 years.

Sounds expensive...did she get any scholarship? What was she studying? It seems you made a great sacrifice for her. Kudos

If I was referring to university I would have written university...not the annoying US habit of saying school.
