Escorts were cool back then, they ruined that one by squaring it off, like Leyland did to the Marina to create the Ital (which was bad before the warm-over). Aside from the late 70's Mexico (with wind-dam front), and the mid 80's Cosworth, the Escort was never cool again. :(
