That's the good thing about Illinois. No crap on the roads here. If you ignore the fact that it's because it's all fallen into a pothole, it's almost a silver lining

Ironically I was in Home Depot this morning and there was a pothole the size of the Grand Canyon in their parking lot. Could they not just grab some stuff from inside and fill it?! Haha

The roads here in CO for the most part seem to be in good shape, some of the more rural ones are obviously horrific though.

At least in CO you have an excuse because people need snow chains on their tires for winter driving on mountain roads. This is Illinois, there is more variation in the colors of a winter sky in Scotland than there is in elevation here. No snow chains needed here, yet the roads are still cut up to shit

Apparently the rule here is, if you need to put snow chains on you don't need to go anywhere that bad and to stay at home? 😂

That's fair enough. Saves you the pain of having to put them on, then

Look at this beauty! Managed to get a padlock shackle in my back tyre!!

Heard a strange clicking sound and then a thunk as the tyre deflated rather quickly.

There is more in the tyre than outside!

I had something like that the other day. Foolishly I removed it as soon as I saw it, then realized it was actually plugging the hole. So then I had to rush home before the tire completely deflated (I was in a park who's gates closed within a few minutes, so couldn't put on the spare then and there). I got home just as the tire was visually sagging.

You guys are incredibly unlucky. Granted, I did pop a bead on a pothole that sprung out of nowhere when I was doing about 50, but I only ever had one thing stuck in a tire once in my life, back in the UK when I drove over a screw at some point.

Oh well.
4x4? Usually should replace all four at the same time but I wonder how much it does affect the tranny.

I had a massive blow out after hitting a pot hole on the interstate a few years ago which was pretty scary. Looked like a fist sized rip down the side of the tyre.

Also had a couple of nails wreck a tyre a couple years ago. wasn't far from a builders store and later found quite a few large nails out by the lights. That was fun.

Mine didn't blow out, luckily, just popped off. Sadly though, in my complete ignorance, I hadn't been topping up the spare every time I put air in the other tires, so it did the same thing.

Luckily my brother in law had a mate who was a mechanic, so he came and picked me up and managed to get the tire back on because he could beat my shitty steel rims back into shape again.
