Let's talk about cars

Re: Let's talk about cars
I saw a mini a couple weeks ago on the freeway, super super nice, with the Union Jack not just on the roof but down the sides hood (bonnet? ) and back too. It was awesome.
Looked teenie around all those lorries and suvs, but awesome.
Sure they won't get blown away on the Mackinac?

Re: Let's talk about cars
Hey now, May's on my side
After I get the upgraded police suspension on the big Marquis (next week! KYBs, bigger sway bars etc) you'd be surprised. The entire suspension platformwide was revised in 03 after Ford learned lessons on weight savings on the all aluminum Jag. A very large aluminum crossmember runs from one side of the front to the other, with solid steel upper control arms and cast aluminum spindles and lower control arms, coil over shocks. It also serves as the engine cradle. Also goodbye to recirculating ball steering, hello rack and pinion Live rear axle yes, but with a watts link. The rear still does shift in high speed corners though.
Heck I checked out a euro spec GTI a couple years ago and it had stamped steel lower control arms. Of course it doesn't weigh 10 tons either
See, a Grand Marquis is the same as a big Jag, and better than a GTI lol!
OK, I'll stop now

LOL! Though with Panthers the waters' on the front carpet. 'Forward' progress? Pulaski that's why I buy them 6 years old
I can't believe I had to say it no longer has recirc ball steering - in 2003! SUPER high tech stuff there.
Here's a hilarious take on the Beetle:

Re: Let's talk about cars
Managed to liberate the mini. It turned out its a 1974 mini 1000, its great condition needs a new battery and all of its fluids changed and a new set of tyres.
Here it is getting its first wash in 7 years

Re: Let's talk about cars
Congratulations! It sounds from what you said, and looks from the picture, to be in pretty good shape.

Cute. I'm always surprised how many old mini's are running around Lima. All in good shape too.
