Looks like the 3-wheeler I saw was a wildfire. Don't buy one of them

LMAO!!

I think the new Focus hatch looks fantastic in bright colors, lime green or bright orange, etc.

Plus that makes them invisible to cops

Gee, that looks pathetic ..... makes the Reliant Robin look like a Humvee.

They're currently available, can be licenced for street use?

/confused

I did wonder if it might have been one of these you'd seen, but then I realised that these are four-wheeled death traps, not the rarer three-wheeled variety. I saw two on the road together here in NC, they were registered in Ohio but I can't imagine they were driven all that way.

I saw those toy 3 wheelers. My first thought was they really aren't suitable to American roads and the big cars that would crush them easily.

Like a Mini...

The truck version looks like something James Bond might race through the Soukhs of North Africa pursued by baddies with machine guns that couldn't hit a barn door at 10 paces!

With a vespa 50cc motor in it and a cloud of blue smoke out the back.

Lots of interesting info guys, thanks!

Whatever i do decide on, it will be new, so 2014 models i guess.

Think I'm down to looking at the Mazda Speed 3 and the Focus ST in a hatch, or another MX-5 or a Mini Coupe if I stick to a 2 seater.

What I REALLY need is a mini AND an ST.
Think I'd narrow that 4-list down to the mini or, more likely, the Mazda 3. Wife used to have one as her commuter....I loved it. Sporty drive, incredibly reliable, decent mileage, Reasonable rear room if we did need to put the kids in, and good cargo space if you needed it. I wanted her to get another, but she went for the Mazda 5, which is dreadful!

I've got a mazdaspeed 6 (2006) and that is OK too, so I wouldn't be adverse to trying the 3

They really are. They're not a minivan and they're not a small hatchback but somehow have successfully managed to be neither (and therefore not have the benefits of either).

Spot on.
Plus, they somehow manage to make it sound like someone dropped a wasps nest onto a sewing machine with a dodgy bearing....
