I always looked on him as a bit of an oddball, but this film is truly an eye opener and was voted one of the best docs of all time, not without good reason.

Oddball certainly doesn't do him justice at all.
Even weird is a gross understatement, IMHO the guy was an absolute total nutter and suitable material for sectioning and I think most ppl.having seen this film will tend to agree.

Amazingly in view of his public profile, he does not appear to have ever had what could be called a true friend in the whole world, apart from possibly his Mother who died back in the early 70s.

He appears to have been arrogant in the extreme, very self centred despite his work and a total control freak with little or no trust in any other member of the human race.

He says he's never ever had a girl friend, not even for a single week, yet is keen to brag about "friends who were girls", for one night only.
His whole way of life in private appeared way beyond belief in so many different ways.

He repeatedly accused the Lois Theroux who interviewed him of being aggressive, which in my book he never was at all.
How the guy maintained a steady head and self control in the face of Savile obnoxious behaviour I shall never know.

Most of it demonstrated Saviles extremely weird way of life, but there were a few interesting words exchanged towards the end regarding paedophilia allegations.

Most definitely worth a viewing for anyone who hasnt seen it before and definitely food for thought when considered in context with recent events.
Yes I have to agree having just flicked through it, could not watch it all as he was pissing me off after the first few minuets.

{ How the guy maintained a steady head and self control in the face of Savile obnoxious behaviour I shall never know. }

Ain't that a fact !

There was a picture the other day of him and Frank Bruno visiting peter Sutcliffe at Broadmoor and Bruno shaking hands with Sutcliffe. I know nothing to do with his abuse but since when have we started treating Mass murderers as celebs??? I found it a disgusting photograph.

Interesting article in Mail on Sunday today re one of the victims and her false account. People like her do nothing to help the victims. It seems to give credibility as to why the Newsnight article didn't go ahead. Of course it doesnt dertract from the behaviour of the BBC during 70/80's.

There could be a £15,000,000 pay out by the BBC.

Police chiefs yesterday revealed Savile’s campaign of underage sex abuse covered at least 60 victims over six decades.

Investigators now believe the Jim’ll Fix It and Top of The Pops host preyed on youngsters from 1959 to 2006, when he would have been 79.

Commander Peter Spindler, head of the Met’s Specialist Crime Investigations, said: “One week on, I have revised my estimate of the number of likely victims to be about 60.

“Once again I want to thank those who have come forward and reassure them, and anyone else who contacts us, they will be listened to.”

Scotland Yard detectives are in contact with 14 other forces investigating Savile’s abuses, with police now pursuing 340 lines of inquiry nationwide.

As the BBC continued to tear itself apart over the scandal, legal experts warned that any TV executives who covered up for Savile could be prosecuted and JAILED for perverting the course of justice.

The BBC could also end up facing a £15million compensation bill after victims called in lawyers.

A Tory MP who worked for the Beeb at the height of Savile’s fame said senior staff “must have known” the star was sexually abusing young girls.

don't you mean a payout by the tax/licence payer ??

none of those who may eventually be found guilty of aiding and abetting will be paying any of it
if they end up in prison then it will also be at public expense not their own from the top salaries in the business

So this is all the fault of the BBC? No one else see the irony of papers like The Sun bleating on about this?

A delicate subject indeed......... (Presuming these allegations are completely true) I guess that any organisations who received any form of charitable contributions, directly or indirectly, raised by this person, would return all of this money immediately. If his headstone could offend the general public, surely any finances deriving from this person, or any charitable work he had done, would also offend them.

I guess that the police will have no problem finding the manpower to follow all the supposed leads and to prosecute anyone found guilty of an offense.

I guess that the British public should rightfully pay for whatever claim amounts the BBC pay out. Surely it's in the national interest that these people, who have said nothing for so many years, should have some peace of mind and closure.

I wonder if these investigations will open a can of worms that will make many uncertain of their future. I wonder if the British legal system class these offenses, as serious as those recently made public, involving the catholic church?

Anyone who uses their position to do anything illegal or inhumane, is wrong. If these allegations are true, although disgusting and terrible, is this person the only one guilty of doing so? If not, maybe justice should stand for all, against all, no matter how high up the chain they are?
