Surely when Jag took the place on it was never restricted just to the villa owners. It must have been extended to least paying members of the public. If this was the case anyone starting it up again could offer memberships at say 5 euros per person to make it above board. I would pay wouldn't you?

Thanks for the map, Michaelh. Did this come from the Ayuntamiento? I see the Golf clubhouse is not in a "yellow" public space. It has a membership plan, yet it is open to the public. How/why/when the change?

Hotels, Golf, Medical centres, Sports Areas, Social services areas all come under different categories and must adhere to different rules & regs. I will edit my above post to explain each area.

I heard (don't shoot the messenger) from a source in the know that there are few parties interested in taking this venue over, but the debts from the previous owner have to sorted out first. If true hopefully something could be sorted by the summer:fingerscrossed:
As to the future plan for the place, if it is restricted to use only for the villa owners or even Esuri in total I cannot think how it could be viable business for anyone, are there enough permanent people there that could sustain any kind of business. A posh private house seems a good idea but what do about the pool may be difficult. |

It would be great to see new businesses on Costa Esuri: Bar, Restaurants, Hairdressers and even a chemist. The areas where these businesses can open to the general public has already been designated in the original plan of the whole of the Costa Esuri complex, this plan was drawn up I think in 2004/5. Anyway there are 7 areas earmarked for commercial exploitation. They are the areas marked in yellow on the plan in the attachment below.

Re: map. Yes, thank you, Michaelh, I think I understand. I also see there are 2 shades of yellow (C = commercial, H = hotel). Darker green = Golf. Lighter green = Zona Verde. Etc.

It would be great for all if any of these businesses could be on Esuri. My feeling is that for one person from outside to take this on may be daunting. Perhaps a few people living on Esuri could get together and go in to business. It would spread the cost, work load and risk. Hopefully some of you have the funds. Unfortunately I do not. The space above the shop looks a great opportunity.

Yes it was restricted to just the villa owners. Seeing, or hearing from an official, is believing so I suggest you go to the town hall and find out for yourself. And a big NO, I would not pay to get in to an illegally run establishment as I think one should abide by the law.

Maybe it was restricted to the owners in the original pan, but I find it hard to believe that Jag and Gavin would have pumped that much into a place that only had a handful of owners to serve. My understanding was that the usage was changed, on a short term agreement, to allow it to be used buy a wider audience and operate as "Jags" until their we're enough owners to take it back over.
But was that agreed with the villa owners or the council. I would not have thought that the villa owners would have the power to change local authority planning rules!? I don't know - I'm just asking? |

Moreover the "business case" for accommodation in the CE golfcourse area. It's great that the hotel next to the IC golf course will reopen. However, with the parador closing at the time of the "Winter birds/golfers" ( this January - March, then beginning November - end of December 2013) where will this business go? IC or Portugal? |

Maybe an ex bar owner living on the ground in CE could look into setting up a consortium to open up what we all want to have. Spread the costs and the risks. If it is done properly it could be very profitable for all involved
Around Warwickshire where I used to live the local shops in many villages started closing, so in at least two villages I know the locals all clubbed together and reopened them as a co-operative. They worked well, and I did see an article on TV where they did it with a pub and incorporated a shop and post office with it |
