And Anton Ferdinand has been shocked this season at the abuse he has received, in reference to the John Terry accusation. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17796589
Whats that got to do with anything?

I was talking about Spain, not the UK. Racism and bigotry has to be seen in a social context.

Thats the problem with 90% of threads of this forum. They start off being about Spain but always turn into the UK. I think because many British expats are mentally still living in the UK but with a bit of sun on their backs

DOUBLE ZING!

And now you've just shot yourself in the foot..

But for the UK media to go on about how its unsafe to travel because of it is a disgrace

I've seen a load of England fans mimic WWII bombers in front of German fans. Equally "racist" and offensive, but there have been no 1 hour specials about it. In fact the media encourage this behaviour

I'm sorry, Cman, but you're totally wrong. I've visited the US on several occasions and black people are accepted as their complete equals by the whites.

I didn't want to mention Obama, but just think about it.

Absolutely correct. Black people are "visible" everywhere. Not just in the bottom jobs but in administration, police, managers in upmarket stores etc.

Maybe equals, but not friends

Just go and look in the school playground at a US high school.

And if the society is so equal then how come a black teenager in the US is more likely to go to prison than college?

I see Poland is playing tonight. Do they have any black players? Uefa admits the racist chants took place, so it's not just panorame then!

We've just had the first casualty of Euro 2012. I've just heard a loud crashing noise from the lounge and found that my wife had switched on ITV to watch Coronation Street and found herself watching the Russian football team standing to attention while their national anthem was played.

I'll get a new remote control tomorrow.
