Euro 2012

Re: Euro 2012
Anyone heard an official explanation why the Spanish players all stand tight lipped rather than attempting to sing during their national anthem as all other teams do ?
It appears almost as a sign of disrespect.
My personal theory is that it must be team policy to avoid conflict between the Castillians and the many Catalonians in the squad who do not consider themselves to be Spanish.

Found a link to it, apparently now it does have words, ..but nobody wants to sing them.

I suppose it's all about trying to retain some sort of unity after Francos time.

More popular than the anthem was Cara el Sol and schoolchildren were required to sing it before lessons....until Franco departed. Children had to learn all the words.

Not too great a surprise, Iniesta has been named as player of the tournament
