Re: Panel Doctors - Edinburgh

I had mine done at Bryden Medical in Glasgow http://www.brydenmedical.com/
Might be a bit too far of a commute for you though.

£1000 for 4 people sounds about right to me too, I'm sure mine cost...

Re: Stupid question about passports

I renewed my UK passport just before I started the whole visa process as it only had 2 years left to go so I knew it would end up needing renewed from NZ and it was cheaper to renew it beforehand...

Re: Traffic

I used to travel the 40ish kms from Papakura in South Auckland home to the North Shore at 7:30am 3 or 4 times a week, I was never home any later than 9, more often around 8:30 so 3hrs is most...

Re: Is it possible to save in NZ?

I manage to save but I'm in a pretty different situation to you.
I'm single, no kids. I own my own home in Auckland and have a reasonably (but no where near a 6 figure salary) paid job. I dont...

Re: Cost of Living - Bills etc

Ok, I can give you my costs for me on my own, might help a bit (as you know I'm in Auckland but, other than housing, I dont find things cost any different here than they did in Rotorua)

Re: Midwife in NZ

Lol, I know I know!! Got fed up doing shifts and doing mostly post natal work and I really didn't like being on call as an LMC so luckily Auckland still has community teams so giving it a go! We...

Re: So frustrating having to wait!

You'd get a relocation package through the DHB whether you get a job with the help of Tonix or not so that's not a reason not to use them (I got my first job through Tonix and negotiated my...

Re: So frustrating having to wait!

I guess its kinda up to you. Tonix wont find you jobs that aren't already available to apply for directly so its just whether you want to shop around yourself or not.

Re: So frustrating having to wait!

Tonix dont organise this for you but most, if not all DHB's have a relocation package they offer overseas employees.
Be aware though that most have a 'tie in' period attached to them and if you...

Re: Police report requirement - is that a DBS/CRB?

Ok, firstly the medical you need for your registration and the one you need for your visa are 2 very different things.

For your midwifery registration it's a pretty simple visit to your GP, do not...

Re: Auckland re-think suburbs to North Shore

I think lots of the opinions about 'rough or not' areas on the Shore are all pretty much just down to personal opinion as house to house and street to street can be very different in all areas. ...

Re: I bought a top loader.

Hmm, my manual says nothing about that and I always just chuck the powder in (and wash everything on a cold wash)

Re: I bought a top loader.

I like my top loader, don't find it any different to the front loaders I had at home as far as wash quality goes. Not sure what you mean by dissolving/diluting laundry powder though, I've never done...

Re: Midwife needs help!

Midwifery registration is usually a fair bit faster than for nurses, also we have a totally separate council so your links incorrect for midwives (sorry at work on my phone or I'd post the right one)...

Re: Early hours commute from Titirangi to CBD?

I don't drive your way but I do commute from the north shore to south auckand at 6.15am.
Only takes me 35mins to get from Birkdale to Papakura so I'm pretty sure your roads will be just as empty.

Re: Commuting to Auckland or Wellington

in Auckland it all depends on where your commuting from and what time your commuting at.

I live on the North Shore, I used to commute into the CBD and now I commute to South Auckland. In the UK I...
