Hubby and I were both put on non-residents tax initially. I had just assumed it was a bit like emergency tax and would 'get sorted' after a couple of months. Hubbie changed jobs after a few months...

You may well be on the non-residents tax initially which is 29%!! You will be able to claim this back though at the end of the financial year, just try to get off it ASAP, follow the ATO link.

I think it's a minimum of 20 hours per week for the work experience. . .

You need to have 100 points to get the family sponsored visa. . I thought you would have to still complete your course first to claim the points then get sponsored?

Hubbie doing Cabinet Making at the Gold Coast TAFE.

Yeah it is an expensive route, but otherwise it would have ment re-training back across in something, which would have also woked out costly...

Hi, for family sponsor you still need to be able to get 100 points on the skills test.

Sounds pretty high. .think ours breaks down to between $35-$40 per week. We're fully electric. . but barely use the aircon.

Would agree that you should try to live without it as much as you can...

The course you choose also must be a minimum of 2 years study (min 92 weeks). Its an expensive route as well as very stressfull as you...

My point is you are in a better position than many of us over here on a student visa. . .you can use your hairdressing to still go for PR where as most of us are at the full mercy of any changes.
