Notice we have been locked up in aircondtioned mode for a few days now. Just took the little one up town for an hour, and OMG you could feel the sun burning
, searing your skin as soon as you got out the car. Not sure how hot it is, but yesterday the temp thingo on the highway, which is right up high so breezy and just metres from the beach said 36 at 1pm. Todays not that humid just boiling.
Got back did 2 UK emails moaning about the cold. You want to scream try this crap then - hate it!
I would LOVE that cold right now, guess I should'nt moan at least I didnt have to stand outside in it for the last 10 hours like those who work in it

I would much rather have the heat. Once I am properly cold I can not heat up, and then I am just miserable. At least with the heat you can cool down with aircon.

Cold is much worse, you can jump in the pool or have a cold shower in the heat and it soon cools you down. I've just got in from laying mulch down on my garden did 7am-2. Would much rather that then the last time i did it, back in the uk, it started to snow. took me weeks to get over that.

If you have AC
I do at home and work, rest of the family have no access to it during daytime hours, let alone a dip in the pool any time they fancy.
Just found out our family room AC unit will use around 50C an hour ( thats part of the house not all of it) thinking with the cost of electricity now, adding that to the bill is gonna be interesting, I might not have AC access soon either

I much, much prefer the cold.
It's easier to get warm than it is to cool down. There's only so many clothes you can take off! And even when walking around semi-naked, you will still feel uncomfortable when it's very hot.
I didn't sleep at all last night here in Perth. It was stupidly uncomfortable, and that was with a fan on in the bedroom.
The heat was one of my main concerns about moving to Australia as I'm not very good with hot weather. After yesterdays heat, and the news today that Perth is going to see a very long/hot summer, I'm starting to worry.
I'd much rather be snuggled up under a duvet, watching TV with a nice cup of tea.
How very British of me! heheh.

We have A/C, but it's rarely on. Live right on the coast and a few open windows/doors (behind fly-screens, natch) catches the sea breeze and cools the house down. Other than that there's the pool, the pacific ocean and the paddle pop.

Hate hate hate the heat. It is so much easier to keep warm - clothes, hot water bottles fires etc whereas with the heat all you can do is strip or take the occasional cold shower only to end up hot and sweaty within moments unless you pay a fortune for air con (even if your DH would have it in the house!). Give me coolth any day of the week!

Spent a few hours at the beach yesterday, came back n jumped in the pool (totally loving seeing our 2 n 3 year old jumping in n swimming!!) then a barbie and a few drinks. . .wouldn't be doing that in cold Scotland!!!

30 Oct 08, I landed back in Melbourne after finishing 2yrs 10mths & 1 day of working in Afghanistan.
Coldest temperature I experienced was -20C with a prolonged period of 3mths with the temp not exceeding 5C. This was in the heights of the Hindu Kush, in Bamiyan Province.
Warmest temperature was 52C at Tarin Kowt, Uruzgan Province. Had 6 weeks where the temperature every day exceeded 45C. Temperature readings were taken from the airfield computerised weather system.
Easy to die from the effects of both extremes..if you were not careful.

Living in Adelaide gives you the best of both worlds. By the time you have got fed up of being too cold it's nearly summer, then when you're fed up with being too hot it's nearly winter again

Everyone is different.
I hate the cold, much rather have the heat.
An interesting result would be a poll, divided up by recent arrivals, longer term Brits, and Australians themselves.

Have to agree with Quoll and The Wookie; I hate the heat, especially when you get several days of it over 35C - it makes me grumpy.
I live in Adelaide too, so the seasons suit everyone whether you like it hot or cold. I am always happy when the cool change comes through...
My OH, on the other hand loves the heat and will quite happily play 18 holes of golf in 40C heat!!!

Bit of a liberty, but I've added a poll
Hope you don't mind J'n'R
