Agree with the 2 previous comments - Oz school kids about 1 year behind the UK - but they work much more on creating a more rounded personality and kids that can get on with each other socially!

Shipped 3 hard drives in hand luggage - checked at airport and treated as a laptop would be i.e. had to be scanned separately.

Suggest using an online storage solution as well - can be accessed...

Just to echo the other replies - a 4 year teaching qualification is required for Oz, not 3 - make sure that she does a degree plus PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) and not a GTP...

Etihad - often the most competitive on prices (we flew LHR to SYD Jan 08), good leg room, good service, went via Abu Dhabi non-stop (not a very large airport, ok if you're only there a few hours...

Regarding the 'being ignored' responses from the flight attendants - we are white British, with 2 young boys. The service was excellent - they bent over backwards to help us, even allowing the boys...

We flew with Etihad last Christmas (Christmas Day!) London - Abu Dhabi - Sydney - chose them because they were the cheapest and also had (mostly!) good ratings on the skytrax and airlinequality.com...
