Re: Keeping your UK home (and selling after a few years?) CGT

Somewhere in the back of my mind I have heard that the UK has changed the rules in this area in recent years so UK tax is not as unlikely as it once was.

This is an area with two different...

Re: Brokenwood tv series

It is filmed in places on the outside of Auckand, much of it around Warkworth but the Brokenwood police station is an old Post-Office building in Helensville.

Another place to appreciate New...

Amazon UK is shipping to NZ again

I had completely missed that anything had changed and it would probably be better for me to use the US site anyway but the UK one is easier for my family there to use for gifts to me and that all...

Re: Job offer - Auckland

170K sounds like a lot and it is much higher than the average local wage but the OP has not said what their line of work is. All companies that are listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange...

They do happen and they are recorded (volcanic activity too) https://www.geonet.org.nz/earthquake so you can make an assessment of how much you need to worry based on facts.

Re: Easing of travel requirements in 2022

The UK government really needs something to divert attention away from themselves right at the moment. The latest crisis response might do the trick.

Re: Coronavirus

The way that Auckland is arranged I think makes it impractical to treat the three different dhb areas independently. It is quite normal for a person to live in one of the dhb areas and commute daily...

Re: Coronavirus

The vaccination figures are good for the central city but not quite so brilliant once the Waitamata (Northern suburbs and Western Suburbs) and the Counties Manukau (Southern suburbs and Eastern...

Re: Coronavirus

500 Days!

I am not going to complain about how things have been handled here despite the current hiccough.

Re: Coronavirus

Are we taking bets on what the case that travelled around Northland was doing that they want to stay so quiet about?

Unfortunately for them whatever it was there is now an awful lot of attention...

Re: Coronavirus

Back to the topic - I have now had the second Covid vaccination - right on the time that was set when I made the appointment six weeks ago. Do I still need to be locked-down?

Despite the inconvenience I am glad NZ has followed a different track.

Re: NZ Houses are freezing

The New Zealanders do seem to move house quite often so I suspect that might be a disincentive to invest in higher standard heating solutions.

There are some numbers about how long owners hang on...

Re: NZ Houses are freezing

It is still a new country and there is still space free where a new build is a realistic option (not so much in the middle of the existing urban centres however).

The benefit of a newer build is...

Re: NZ Houses are freezing

It is a common complaint of people that move to live here, the concept of central-heating was not embraced by the people of this country. The houses are fine to live in the during the summer but cold...

Re: Possible to get into NZ with a Job offer

I never liked commuting when I lived in London so I used to live in zone 2 so I could use the Docklands Light Railway (mostly overground) and keep the journeys short. Even then, in the final year I...
